Apparently, my two younger boys have discovered they like larping! This is the second saturday they've met with the larp group to do it. I had to sign 'death waivers' and everything, lol, who knew whacking each other with foam swords could be dangerous, lol

Some of these boys are quite serious about it and come dressed in robes, capes, etc...

So who has larped and or still larps? What did you like best about it?

I used to get PSYCHED for wednesday night because my college's larping team used to practice in the quad!! LOL IT WAS AWESOME!!
The guys on the team got teased a lot but I always thought it was so cool! Didn't know anyone who did it though

All I know is Erin (heyjude) and I came across a larping group while we were out walking Jude, Summer, and Mia. It was kind of weird. We left pretty quickly lol.

I guess I have done a little LARP'ing but not as a formal group with acting or anything. I have dressed up for a few ren fairs and it was fun.

I've gone to a LARP con the last three years as a vendor, and I'm getting sucked in.

This year I did an arcade style game, which is basically what it sounds like; there's levels, you fight monsters, earn points, and die. It's great.

I can see myself getting more and more into it.

There's a larp-type sport called dagorhir that I really want to get into. I'm not really the larp type, but this is a really physical, fighting war-type game that seems so fun to me.

Well it's good to see it's not just a 'nerd' thing.....or that it's at least kinda cool to be nerdy these days! The boys are a bit too much like dad, lol

Sally, this particular larping group seems to be in the ages of 20-ish on down to around 12-ish. Looks like the only older person is the founder/leader man and his wife. They meet at Fox to practice. From what I gather, they've been doing it for 5 years now.

That's probably for the best some of them can get way WAY WAY too serious and into it.

I don't do it often. The whole dressing up and pretending to be someone else isn't really my cup of tea but it is definitely more fun when you are with people who want to have fun and not with people who want it to have an 'authentic' feeling.

My brother in law is SUPER into larping. He has a title and battles for stuff, and has tons of weapons and makes armor all the time. I'm just like, o_O

Whatever makes people happy is cool. :)
