Kenyas spay appointment December 12th

im so worried i have to bring her to the a/c clinic at 9 am and pick her up at 4 or 5.
i hate that i have to bring her back there. but they are enforcing a rule they NEVER enforce simply because Kenya is purebred and they for some reason think i want to breed her.. and because i took an extension/canceled her 1st appointment because of her kennel cough, hook worm and i didnt want her spayed there while she was going through treatment for all that stuff

i know im not supposed to give her food/water after 9 pm the night before. but other then that, would should i do to help?
ive never had a female dog, so im not familiar with how they are after spay.

She should be just fine. Spays are a little harder on the dog than a neuter is for a male dog, but they are still usually ok. After Annabelle was spayed, she was sleepy/groggy for a while. We were given pain medication that she had to take for a couple of days. She was a little slower for a couple of days and we had to keep her from jumping/playing. I can't remember the exact time frame, but she was just fine within about a week, I'd say. She never bothered the incision site but you do need to make sure your dog isn't licking at it or anything.

Nomi was recently spayed and she did fine.

Pretty much what Pam said is what Nomi did, although she was not on any pain medicine after the surgery. She was back to normal and rough house playing with the other two within a week.

Also, don't be alarmed if she doesn't eat for the first couple days but small amounts. Nomi didn't want anything the first day and on day two she ate a few bites of buffalo but didn't want anything else. By day three she was eating her raw like normal. But, do make sure she is drinking.

She'll just be groggy and feeling sorry for herself when you pick her up.

Make sure you have a nice warm quiet room for her to recover in. Try and make sure she doesn't get too lively when she comes round, because she needs to rest and not strain her stitches.

TLC is all that should be required all going well.
