What? Since you last commented, there was ONE person who said the baby would be a welfare baby, and a few other people giving suggestions on things to sell, and others discussing amongst themselves HOW internet bill could be so much, which is helpful to make further suggestions to get out of it.

Unless we're reading different threads. But you've also really given suggestions and sympathy.

Wow. Just wow. I have to say this forum just reach a new low. A distress member came here to vent about her troubles only to be face with a huge lack of compassion, people constantly jumping on her on her decisions, looking down on her, accusing her of being lazy and not doing anything about her situation as if you know anything about what she is trying to do, gossiping about her potentially being on welfare with a baby, etc. I mean really people? Some people just need a shoulder to cry on, thoughtful suggestions, not a tear down. I wouldn't be surprise if she stop coming back to this thread.

Pathetic.
People did give advice and ideas. She came back and shot EVERY SINGLE ONE down. My BF *look I fixed it* would say no. He wouldn't let me. He won't do it. They are a couple. Purchases are affecting both of them. Instead of answering no for him they need to sit down, get over their stuff and figure things out. And by figure things out I mean avoid getting into a hole, which getting a pay advance would help put them in.

After that people CONTINUED to give ideas and advice. But if you are going to come on here and complain about desperately needing money then say that you are complaining about that on an EXPENSIVE toy *even broken apple products hold their resale value like crazy* and then give excuses why you won't sell fun stuff you are going to get called out on it.

And have you given ANY suggestions? I mean I may have missed them but both of your posts that I remember are you getting on here and complaining about how horrible Chaz is.

A LOT of people sympathize with her. A LOT of people on here have been in this situation and worse. But there is definitely a difference in sympathizing and offering suggestions to someone who is going to try and help themselves and someone who isn't.

If she does sit down with her BF and they decide to man up and start looking for ideas numerous people have offered to help her find lower priced options on along with places to find help.

I doubt they shut off the Internet because they owed $40
My brother had a brain fart and forgot to pay his internet for a month and they shut it off, and his bill was only $27 or something.

People here have gone without computers, phones, internet, ANYTHING for long stretches of time, without heat, without roofs over their head, lost cars, homes, gone without food. I'm not saying you can't have very serious money struggles without being that badly off, but complaining about money when you have a very costly camera via your expensive apple product is automatically going to get you some flack, no matter where you got it or why you can't sell it.
Indeed. I live with my parents, and we go every summer without hot water. Right now that also means no heat, since it got cold so early. I can't feel sorry for someone that buys a $500 ipad and is then $500 short for rent.

Wow, just wow. I have a full time job and do some part time odd jobs and have less dogs and I still have nowhere near the luxury items you have Barbara. No way in hell I could afford an Ipad, however fun that might be! I'd rather spend the money on food!

Yeah its rough as hell trying to get by, but jeebus you gotta get your priorities in line. Right now they really are not and I worry about that baby being born into and staying in that a LOT. You have a HUGE 18-25yr expense coming up in 7 months. You need to make some big changes so that you can keep it healthy and feed it properly! It would suck bigtime, but you may need to look at rehoming a few dogs and maybe only have one or something in addition to selling electronics and crap.

My dogs could not survive on Pedigree. They would get a lot sicker than just a little upset tummy. So I have to budget accordingly.
Same here. There are many, many dogs that could, and do, and would do fine on it. Gavroche would probably be okay. Logan, however, would not. He would NOT be able to eat crap-in-a-bag without racking up vet bills that cost more than the good food to begin with, or at least stuffing him with supplements (again, more expensive than just feeding a good food). Like I said some dogs would be able to handle it, but not all dogs.

Yeah that happened to my roommates the month before last... some other thing I think student loan that was autopay accidentally withdrew twice and so their whole month got fouled up. Considering they are addicted to WoW I'm surprised they got by so well that month without internet, lol.

Yeah me neither. Dude my rent is less than $500 and I still took in roommates to make that easier. Just wow.

Yeah I think a lot of people forget things like that. Heck Scout's tummy gets upset when I run out of green tripe and even that is still better than when she was on grain free kibble before going raw. Oh my special girl, lol.

I hope things get better soon
I would talk to your boyfriend again about the camera. I don't care whos it is, you guys are having a baby..the last thing you need is debt on top of every other expense that comes with being a parent.

I would start checking freecycle for things as well. Sometimes you find things people are too lazy to sell, that you could fix and use etc..etc..

to add to this: is there anything you need babywise? Somebody was offering up baby clothes, there are loads of parents here! Maybe try an ad in the dog stories/free cycle section

I'm not saying everyone in this thread was jumping on her, but reading through this whole thread, there are so many snippy, borderline accusing post in this thread that I can't believe is being forwarded to someone who just wanted to vent her frustrations. If I were her and pouring my troubles on to this forum, I would frankly be shock and greatly displease by this reaction.

Keep in mind that when someone post a thread about their life situation and needing help, they themselves already considered many alternatives. When someone suggested selling the Ipod, they had no idea that she was already planning to sell it on Craigslist. She corrected that and said that she was, and yet people continue to bring it up. She gives reasons why certain things can't be sold, yet people jump on her and say she isn't doing enough for her situation. We aren't there with her. We don't know all the things she is doing for herself. All we can do is to be an ear for her troubles and give out advice, not analyze every single reason she gives and scoff that reason off as not good enough. Come on.

I personally would sell the expensive Camera and maybe buy a cheaper one. Are you getting Internet and cable TV? Does DSL exist in your area? I would get rid of the cable TV and get a lower speed internet package. Some ISPs offer lower speed and cheaper packages they don't normally advertise. The legality of using another person's wifi (even unencrypted) is questionable at best and I wouldn't get into a routine habit of doing that.

Is it possible to talk to the landlord about splitting up the rent payment this month? I'm sure your landlord has bills but if you could split it up week by week..that might lessen the strain on you. When are you getting another paycheck?

Whoa... Is it not possible that the ipad was bought when they may have been more financially stable? She said its an ipad 1 that is cracked so not like it is brand new state of the art.

Come on people. After all the hurrah We voted Obama to help people in a rough patch because that happens... This is what the next thread about someone in a bind is like? Judging their worth because they have a few nice, older things as if they bought them yesterday?

Barbara, I am sorry you guys are struggling :( I second the idea of checking freecycle for things you can use and things you can sell. Couponing is a great way to save a lot on food and other goods as well. It has changed our lives. I am spending about half or less than we were before on groceries

Yeah, don't sell the car. You will be able to have more freedom as far as what sort of job you take, and you need that flexibility. Cancel the internet, sell the iPad for whatever you can get for it (it sucks to take a loss, but it is broken), and sell the camera. I know the bf doesn't want you to but it is what it is and you need the money. I would keep the cell phone just because I think it's a good idea for employers to be able to reach you and have it in case of emergencies.

I know that at least in this area Kohls is hiring like crazy for the holidays.

I agree about the cell phone too. Especially being pregnant you will need a way to get a hold of someone should something happen and that isn't guaranteed to happen at home

I went to the mall earlier and almost every store has a sign saying they're hiring for seasonal workers. The job will probably suck, but it's money!! I'm so sorry for all you are going through. I hope things will look up soon! You're in my thoughts!

I agree you should keep the car and the phone. Your phone is a lot more important than people are making it seem.

Phone is important but you can get a cell phone with a prepaid plan that you can keep minutes/money on.

Phone is important. Monthly phone plan to randomly chat is not.

Oh..and I would really really recommend looking for holiday work right now..there are tons of temporary positions..check UPS/Fedex and whatnot..malls..etc. Are you telling employers you are pregnant? I wouldn't disclose that unless it is a temp position (or not at all).
