So since Im not handy and I have really no place to store equipment I decided to buy some agility equipment that can break down and I can toss in my trunk. So I found a website I liked the stuff. Prices werent bad until............ I cashed out and I looked at the shipping fees. Shipping costs me almost as much as my purchase. All I purchased was 4 jumps and weave poles. Does anyone know of a reasonable website for buying equipment or a store in the Ontario area that you can get equipment.

Things like PVC jumps are fairly easy to make, and are easy to store. I made all my stuff except my tunnel if you would like help.. Currently I'm staying with Dekka and Snip and would love to learn to weld ;)

I made wooden wing jumps I think are prettier.. but if you need things to be storable..

Storable is a must right now. Hopefully by the end of the year Ill be moving and have a decent size lot to go along with it. Right now I have no backyard so it makes it a bit difficult. When I do move I will want some nice equipment and will most definitly pm Snip to get more info.

With what I spent on 4 jumps and weaves I probably could have made a whole course for the same price.

MafiaPrincess - That would be great if you could tell me how to make things. What have you made? I guess right now I really cant make much like I have no place for a dogwalk or teeter or a frame anything like that. Dont think I could exactly get it in my car to bring places. Id really like a tire jump as Duke needs more practice with this. But dont know what to use to make it light weight and be able to take it apart and such.

I really am jealous of everyone who can enjoy the equipment in there own backyards. I just really figured I neededsome stuff to get more practice on it. Cause once a week classes are going to take alot longer to get anywhere with if we dont have anything to practice on.

Not that you can put it in the car.. but this is my half sized teeter..

I have jumps I like better.. but the one in the back was my first jump ever.. One in the front was made with left over scrap..

Apparently I didn't take pics after I got more fun stuff..

I like the jump standards from this vid..

YouTube - Jump Weave

That said.. You should still pm Snip and see what you can talk about. Dekka's aluminum jumps are light weight and rock. He might be able to modify them so the 'foot' comes off so they can lay flat (in car or storage).. he likely could also make you 2x2 weave poles so you can use them as is, or put them together as a set of 6 weaves.

I bought my 2x2's elsewhere.. but I have 4 bases, and use them as sets of 4 poles, or more.. or use them to play with entries. They transport quite well.

If you decide to make stuff, shoot me a pm and we can talk about it though.

Huh...I'm getting free promotions these days, cool!

Yep, I can make the stuff....I've even been trying to get enough made ahead that I can think about going at it as an actual 'supplier'...but for various reasons it hasn't happened yet.

Other than weave pole bases, I prefer to make everything else from aluminum now, with aluminum skins too. Completely maintenance free, no rotting, rusting or other issues. Only thing required is upkeep of the running surface, whether it's paint/sand for traction, or a rubber crumb (I'm looking into that right now).

I've been told I have to make a table and a set of 2x2 weaves real soon, so I could likely make multiples if you're interested.....let me know asap so I can crunch some numbers to figure out the costs etc though.

Hey Snip,

I guess I should let you know now that I'm interested in a few jumps and maybe some weave poles. This summer I want to start getting Finn used to puppy-sized basics of agility. :D

I want some jumps as well... but of course I live in the US so shipping from Canada to US might be a bit costly right?

I have a weave pole set... it's nothing spectacular... just a small set I found at Toys R us believe it or not.

I really want... a couple single jumps, a double jump, and tire jump because Bamm really needs to work on that one.

I really really want an A-Frame, Dog Walk and teeter... I could probably store them in the garage or under the back porch if I can make a cover for them to protect them from weathering... now that I live on the farm I have room for all this stuff... now I just need money so I can get all the equipment i need.

The part in bold is a big chunk of the reason I went to all aluminum. The first piece I built in aluminum is a contact trainer, I think it's been three years now since I built it. When it got finished, I put a coat of primer on the running surfaces, and left it to test the primers adhesive properties to the aluminum.

I'll ask Dekka nicely if we can take some pics of it later tonight to post, my digital cam is in the excavator right now...

Shipping can be an issue, but.....sometimes some careful waiting and you can find someone road tripping etc that can take it along, I know folks from time to time that head to Florida for example. Or it could be an excuse for a road trip......

I really do need room. I dont have the space for much right now. I am gonna keep Snip in my mind for when the day comes and I can get everything I want. Hopefully by the end of the summer I will be buying a house and I will be able to get in contact with you for more info on prices and all the fun stuff. But until then I dont want to waste your time.
