My Puppy Oreo has had kennel cough.. and i ran out of the medicine they gave me at my vet (it smells just like robitussin and looks like it too) .. i was wondering if i could give him a little bit of robitussin we use and dilute it in water? ... please don't get mad at me if i'm asking a stupid questions cause i honestly don't know if it's safe or not.

i do know some aquaintances that have given like benedryl to their dogs.. so i don't know! someone help! i don't like to see Oreo cough and have a cold :) iw ould take him to the vet, but this would be the 3rd time in a month and i dont have any money what so ever! .. i already spend about 400 when he got sick last time!

Don't worry about asking questions, Khristine - no one with any sense minds if you ask about something you don't know.

I don't know about the Robitussin, but when my Mom's little Terrier mix had bronchitis the vet had her give Roo Creomulsion for Children.

Benedryl is a good thing to have on hand for emergencies - like bee stings or any kind of severe allergic reaction. Always call your vet for dosage verification, though, especially with a small dog. Our vet told us the dosage was one mg per pound of body weight; I've always started with half that dose and never had to increase it though.
