Does anyone know if these are a healthy safe treat? http://www.amazon.com/Waggin-Train-Chicken-Tenders-Natural/dp/B000FMMTHK

My dog loves them they are sold at sams club. This is all it says for ingredients: chicken breast fillet, natural flavoring.

crude protein-min 70.0%
crude fat-min 1.0%-max. 0.3%
crude fiber-max. 0.3%
moisture-max. 14.0%, salt-max.0.3%

As I am typing this and reading the bag I see this: sterilized by irradiation for freshness & health and it is made in China. I have a feeling you are going to tell me this treat is bad.:yikes: I hope not, I am running out of things to give my dog he is so pickey.:lol-sign: I guess anything he really likes is going to be bad for him.:p Let me know your opinions on this. The irradiation thing is teeny tiny on the bag I almost did not see it.

The ingredients look OK, but the fact that it is made in China means that you don't know if the meat was processed and treated with....formaldehyde? arsenic? Who knows, could be anything!

If it makes you feel any better - I bought a bag of those too (at Costco, I don't shop at Walmart/Sams Club or any affiliated businesses) and didn't see the "made in China" and "irradiated" until you mentioned it in this post.

Needless to say, I won't be buying them again - I trust them as much as I trust Merrick treats. :p I won't be throwing them out though.

Nature's Variety makes some similar treats of better quality. There's also a bunch of other good stuff available at SitStay.com:

I'm so glad I found this thread. One of the folks at the dog park gave some of these to Toby, and Toby LOVED them. He would literally follow that lady around begging for more. I asked her where she bought them from and she said Costco. Well, today, I went and bought Toby a bag. Later on, I started reading the fine print and was SHOCKED to see that it is made in China!!! :yikes:

I will NOT be giving these to Toby.... I just don't trust it.
