I'm getting a 7 month old GSD pup in the beginning of February. She's a birthday gift for me from my hubby, but kind of came at the wrong time, since we decided it's best for Smokey to be PTS due to the fibrosarcoma. (Long story but ended at the E-vet because he was suffering so badly...and I am making him a final vet appt tomorrow :-( so I"ll know soon when the "day" is coming)

I've been feeding Diamond Naturals and Lily has done well on it, Smokey not so much but I don't know what the cancer is doing or has done in the past since we've had so many problems with what he can and can't eat.

I'm not sure how I want to do this with our new pup, do I want to feed her the Diamond Naturals puppy food or just the adult food that Lily is getting? I've also considered switching over to a raw diet, but not sure on the expense of it.

Diamond Naturals is about the best I can do on my budget, which I don't feel is bad at all. My budget is due for an increase next month (no more truck payments, YAY!) so it's something I can work with.

I have a feeling that Smokeys life mixed with the crappy dog food he was getting before I got him might have been a suspect in his premature aging and death...he's 7, almost 8 years old and is looking decidedly older than he is.

So what's some good suggestions?

At 7 months I'd feed the adult as long as it's all life stages.
I moved Dante to adult food at 5 months.

Good luck with your new addition, I'm sorry about your Smokey :(
