Is this much napping ok?

WANNA TRADE?!?! Sounds like Merlin is a perfectly normal dog 
Crossbone seems to be in a constant state of movement. I'm pretty sure he sleeps when I'm away for the day, but he rarely naps when we're home! Especially if we go somewhere new and he doesn't have anything to play with on his own he is in constant motion and paces endlessly. He stayed with my parent's for 4 days and it took until the last day that he actually laid on the dog bed for more than 2 minutes. He doesn't like it when his family isn't in the same room, he paces a lot more, or if he doesn't have something to chew. He is getting SO much better, but there are times that he makes me anxious and want to put myself in a crate.
However, something CRAZY happened last night. I learned that if he's tired enough (we visited people around the world, played lots of high wind frisbee fetch in large fields and he played with Jackie Loo for a long time) he will CHOOSE to sleep! It was 6 PM when we got home, Ken and I settled on the couch to watch the ball game and he went straight to our bed, crashed and didn't come out until close to 10 PM. It was remarkable

Trent is the same (and has been since he was 6 to 9 months old). I frequently joke that he is asleep for 20 hours each day and only awake for the 4 hours we are out exercising (plus 5 minutes twice a day, for food). He's ALWAYS napping. At home, the only moving around he does is to find a better napping spot LOL
When he was younger I had the same concern - after the "thank god this puppy is no longer crazy!!" phase, I went into the "I BROKE MY GSD" phase :rofl1: That feeling didn't last long, I eventually realized that he was just fine. I love a dog that can sleep and settle during our down time, and then be ready to go when I am.

Merlin sounds like he's a healthy pup who's getting a fantastic amount of exercise and stimulation.
Fable has absolutely ZERO off switch. I don't remember the last time I saw her sleep. :yikes: She runs and trains with me, is "busy" the rest of the day, is still awake in her crate when I fall asleep and wakes me up in the morning crying to get out of her crate. She gets hours of hard exercise, runs until her legs are about to fall off, and still won't nap. >.<
