Most people would jump at the chance to "talk dog", I know I always do and most love a chance to brag on "their" breed :)

It may not be rude, but it's not a question I feel comfortable answering unless you know me pretty well.

I also don't like when near strangers ask me how much my shoes cost or anything else really.. just seems intrusive.
Perhaps if framed around other aussie curious questions like what breeder he's from, what aussies are like, and then for the price range of their litters in general maybe.

but "how much did you pay for him?" "How much do their puppies cost?"
    Nope. None of your business.

Ask me the breeder and if you are that interested you can ask her.

I heard once we should be more open about what we get paid and what you pay for something so we know what we should expect to make or pay and its not some big secret. Really agree with that.

I wouldn't care what someone asked really. I would just take it as a chance to educate. And especially when they ask price you can explain why a 300$ dog out of the paper is not going to be cheaper in the long run.

Lol, aww thanks. I'm in love with Gwen, so maybe we can swap dogs every now and then? :rofl1: haha jk.

I wouldn't find any of these questions rude. If I could answer them more appropriately, I totally would, but Jackson came from a BYB in Baltimore City for $550  I do belong to a few Silky mailing lists and FB groups though and I would say that he pretty much spot on for the Silky temperament, minus maybe a few little things. I do have some Silky breeder recommendations if you were ever seriously interested.

I was very pleasantly surprised when I was kind of looking around for another dog, and trying to pick a second breed, and almost all the breeders I e-mailed with were so friendly, willing to answer questions, including even price, etc. I always started with a somewhat brief email about me and my current dog, got friendly with them, and then would ask ballpark what price range I'd be looking at. I'm friends with a few of the breeders that I really liked on FB and that gives me a nice little insight to their dogs (pic and videos they post) and just general personality.

Revy's breeder gets fluffs from time to time - you can't show a fluff, but the coat happens sometimes, even in show-bred litters. IMO it's pretty easy to get a pet fluff from a good breeder if you know where to go.

I can't remember the last time anyone asked me where my dogs came from! But, I don't mind the questions. I always have a breeder referral for people seriously interested in either type of ESS though. (It just happens to be none of my dogs' breeders.)

i would be more than delighted to talk my breed with anyone, including so-called "touchy subjects" like price. i would not be at all offended by somebody asking tough questions about health or "what are they REALLY like, when you arent trying to sell me on them" etc

Yeah, I tell anyone anything they want to know about Vizslas. Especially because so many people see Penn& want one because 'so pretty!'. I love talking about my breed because I think they are fabulous& I don't even consider it rude when people ask price ..as long as they've struck up a conversation and aren't rude or comment I should have rescued!
