Well. i am a college student at york college of P.A. I am a founding father of my fraternity chapter Gamma Gamma chapter of Kappa Delta Rho. This is my 2nd puppy and my first right now is a happy 13 year old yellow lab mix breed. she almost died last year and they pulled a softball sized tumor from between her rib cage. said she most likely had it since she was a pup. she shot from 35lbs when wet to a normal size aprox 60lbs. She's an awsome dog. and to my mothers dismay i chose to get Buster, a 7 week black lab mix ( i think with Pit) whom is happy, rambunctious and a poop machine. He's doing well in his training, i have to watch him but he's going outside to use the bathroom, usuing the treat reward/pet reward to show him that's where he should be going. He's showing no agression towards food, i've taken it away from him, put my hands near his mouth ect. about the only stumbling block thus far is how excited he gets to eat. To the point of whining and jumping. I have bee pouring the food out and water out and setting it down in his crate and holding him saying calm. calm. till he chills out.. then i let him go eat. This morning he was alot better, got me up at 7:30 (had pooped in the cage however.. my fault for not getting up fast enough) And when we came back in he went in his crate and sat down waiting for the food to come once i said calm to him (because he was initially jumping/whining). Pics coming soon. Would love to semi know what his mix is.

Well i am sure i will have lots of questions later on. Thanks for having such a broad range of knowledges that i have read thus far,

Brian.

i tried sending them from my phone to my e-mail adress but it's being stupid. I wouldn't call myself knowledgable. But, i've been around jeep forums for a long time now, so i know to do some lurking/reading before i get going. What i am interested in learning is some more about clicker training, what it is when to start it. And how to execute totally positive training. I personally only know to say no when he chews and lightly tap his snout and give him something else to chew on.

ill try and get some pictures up, i am going to be asking yall if you can tell what is mixed with this lab. i think it's pit, but im kinda hoping he takes the personality of a lab, since i do have another dog that will be joining us after college( mom wants me taking marbles whenever i move/get my own job after my graduation in may)

Not the best way to handle it, you should definitely post on the training section about how to handle chewing. To put up pics you'll have to upload them onto a site like www.photobucket.com then copy the image code and paste it here.

as far as his breed goes you may never know what is really in there, just make sure to socialize him with ALL kinds of people and dogs, everything you can think of. Can't wait to see pics! :D
