Innova Evo prices

Well I think I'm pretty sold on feeding my puppy Innova Evo when I get him next week. The prices I've got so far are:

3.3 pound bag - $6.99
13 pound bag - $23.99
28 pound bag - $44.99

These seem pretty pricey to me (I'm a student) .. how about in your area?
Are there equal alternatives to this food that I could feed for a cheaper price?
It just seems like people here love Evo and the fact that it'll fit my puppy's needs.

California Natural is also made by Innova, but no, there isn't anything else out there quite like the EVO. It's 38.99 here for the 28.5 pound bag, but when you figure in how much less of it you feed, it actually works out to be more economical than the rest. Mordy posted an exact rundown on the cost somewhere here in the Food forum. You might do a search if you want to see it.

Charley, who had taken a bit of convincing before - even though at the time I was buying all the dog food and he does get to use it as a tax deduction since our dogs are working farm animals - is now completely sold on it after taking Shiva with us to a July 4th houseparty. She was in such obviously superior condition to everyone else's dogs that even he couldn't attribute it only to being a farm dog (one of his favorite theories )

I also feed mine some raw food now, especially chicken, and a couple of times a week they get a full meal of raw meat and some cooked vegetables and/or brown rice.

Raw chicken or just raw red meat?

Raw chicken. Chicken cartilage is the source of glucosamine . . . I figure that's got to be a good thing, especially for these big dogs, and their teeth are staying so beautifully clean. They were nice before, but now they are dazzling. Most people think they've just had them cleaned at the vet's, lol! I stay away from liver and kidneys for the most part, as those are the organs that collect toxins in the body, but feed them beef hearts or chicken hearts and gizzards sometimes. They get raw beef from time to time, and some raw pork every now and then, depending on what's available (shopping the reduced bin in the meat section is a great way to do it, lol!). They also love things like turkey necks.

Alright, I just returned from the store with a bunch of samples of
Innova Evo, Innova Puppy, California Natural, Solid Gold, Wellness, Canidae, and Nature's Variety.

I think for my budget, the Evo may be too expensive. In terms of quality, what food would you guys says follows in at 2nd to this food?

I think the Innova EVO must have something going for it. We just noticed that my dog CJ used to try to eat the cat poop and now she's not eating it any longer since she's started eating the EVO. I'm so happy about this.

I pay $41.99 for the large bag of EVO here in Connecticut, but it depends on where you purchase it.

evo is more expensive than other foods because it contains far more meat. grains are much, much cheaper, so the more grain in a food, the larger the profit.

just to put it into perspective, evo contains about 12% carbs, while average foods usually contain between 40 and 60% or even more.
