Oct 31st brought tragedy to our home as we lost our dear Chevy in a very unpredictable accident. I have told a few of you, but it has been too hard to post publicly about it until now. It is still hard, but gets a little better each day.

We carved this pumpkin for her and put it on her grave

From the first day that we got you,
You were our precious girl.
Even with your lethal tail,
We wouldn't trade you for the world.

We cussed and cursed your puppy ways,
But we never could stay mad.
You'd make us smile everyday,
Oh the fun times that we had.

So when we got that terrible call,
In my heart I knew,
That Oct 31st, 2009,
Would be the day my heart stood still

I remember how you'd nudge my hand,
And set your head gently in my lap
The tennis ball you would gladly chase,
Around our legs, at night you'd wrap.

Your obesession with a tennis ball,
You loved retrieving from the start.
You will always have a special place
Forever in my heart.

If I could relive yesterday,
Just even for awhile,
I'd your rub your ears and kiss you,
Just so I could see you smile.

Sleep peacefully my sweet little girl

I am so sorry for you loss, Karen. Chevy had that special spark that even came out in pictures.

As an aside, that's a really good carving!

Thank you everyone, your well wishes mean a lot to my husband and I.

I was actually quite surprised the carving turned out as well as it did...it didn't look that great until we turned off all the lights!!!

I am so sorry for your loss. From your various picture threads I believe your dogs live an enviable life. It was easy to see her vibrant personality shining from her eyes even in still photos. i hope time continues to heal you.

Oh I am so sorry for your loss of Chevy. She indeed had a wonderful expression. What a sweet dog. And your words of love for her were a wonderful tribute to her. I'm so very sorry for your pain.
