I probably shouldn't be but oh well. As a back story, Summer was 4 when I got her and since then she's never really played with anything. She really seems to have issues with things in her mouth that she doesn't like. I've been working off and on to shape her to play and mouth with things.

Today she shredded some paper towels I was holding. Ran up and bit them and started shaking them. Then I held up another and she ran up and grabbed it and tore it up. She's so funny and still so gentle. But tail wagging, having a good time and shredding (albeit gently) away. I know, I know... not a big deal. But she's never ever played with anything before. My clicking for her biting and grabbing things I have is definitely working, slowly but surely.

So yes, a happy post because my dog can now do what so many people try to get their dogs not to do.

It does make your heart thump when you see one learn to play :)

The first time Cleo tried to play when she was with me made me <3 Poor baby really didn't know how at all. She thought I was going to scold her.

*edit* dammit. Now I'm all teared up :(

Marlee actually PLAYED for the first time the other day. I still don't think she knows what she's doing, but she's kinda like "oh, is this what I'm supposed to do? Ok.. I guess..." She's still super weirded out by it, and I'm sure she does it just to please me, but that's ok, I'll take it :D

Definitely know the feeling!

Yay Summer!

I remember being all happy telling people about the first time Meg broke the skin on my hand grabbing for her tug. I got some weird looks for that. We get how ripping up paper towels can be exciting :D
