My next rescue dog is an 8 month old lab/pitbull mix. I was browsing through the free section on Kijiji and noticed an ad for a free pitbull mix. My heart instantly dropped because I am worried that the city might pick up the dog and have it destroyed. I called the rescue I volunteer for and asked if we can help.
I have been in contact with the person that has the dog and I will be picking him up tonight!!!
As per the description he is good with children and is good with other dogs.
Hopefully we can find him a forever home out of the province.
Any tips from experienced pittie owners on how to integrate the new boy into my home?

At 8 months old he's in the terrible Terrier Teens, lol. Be prepared for lots of naughtiness, offset by massive amounts of cuteness (it's a survival trait that's evolved ;) ).

How you integrate him depends on whether he's got more of a hot APBT temperament or a cool one, or is more like a Lab. If he's hot, it's going to be crate and rotate.

You know not to leave him unsupervised with the smaller dogs particularly. I'm going to guess that you'll probably find he's more of a playful mischief maker/snugglebutt than a real troublemaker/scrapper.

Unfortunately, getting the pup fell through yesterday. The person and I had an agreement that I would stop by right after work to pick him up. I e-mailed her about an hour before I was finished work to confirm and they said the dog was already gone. I aksed why and the response was that they didn't hear back from me in the afternoon, (when in fact the last e-mail I sent was at 12:30 noon)
All I can say is what a "^&(*@"!! Now I don't know where the dog is. So this morning I got my co-worker to send an e-mail asking for the dog and see what response we get.
