Isn't she beautiful? My mother's new nine-week-old Anatolian pup. Her name is Occam. I haven't met her yet. Planning a trip over the mountains this coming weekend. :D (Sorry the pics are so big. I'm lucky I got them up at all!)

Yeah, I suppose she's a sister. It's just hard to think of my mom being a "new mom" again at her age! ;) So, addendum: Here's Occam, my new adoptive sister.

William of Occam (Ockham) was a logician in the 1300s. He basically said that the simplest explanation is usually the correct one. It's part of the foundation of the scientific method: Don't add postulates that don't contribute to a theory's predictive power. Smart guy. Mom named her dog after him. Did I mention my family has a pretty firm scientific background? (Read: We're a bunch of nerds.) :D

Ooh, very interesting indeed, thanks for explaining! :) I like names that aren't very common - it makes them more interesting.

Lovely pup! And so much poise already. She must come from working lines with that attitude she's showing.

So, when it's time to trim her coat, will you be using Occam's Razor? :p

Congrats to your mom & Occam for finding each other! Occam is so cute!!!!

Max says he wants to meet his new sister; he doesn't have many Anatolians to play with on this board.
