I'm almost positive this time that I'll be getting one of these...

Lots and lots of breed debate in my little head (okay well like 4 main breeds debating between).

But I finally have that "this is the one" feeling with more certainty.

I'm about 90% sure a Border Terrier will hopefully be in my life by 2013 at some point.

I think I want to go with what I'm comfortable with to a point, but still try something a bit different... this breed just does it for me for some reason and I haven't really even met many of them in person. But it seems like just the right amount of "on" for me, trainable enough, happy to learn, got just the right amount of terrier (but not so much the DA issues and other terrier 'issues'). I think a BT will look cute with Jackson... there's a certain beauty to the Border I'm attracted to for some reason. I've spoken to a breeder somewhat closeby who I really like.

Watching Mira & Rut on Youtube hasn't helped: http://www.youtube.com/user/Mickvor?feature=CAoQwRs=

Not to mention these awesome BT's I found doing agility: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RLutBPSH8Qo&list=FLiY0ZN2J9nJy0e5dC5PD9qA&index=2&feature=plpp_video

And, I mean, THIS FACE?!

I don't know... sometimes I still think it'd be cool to get a Border Collie (and believe me I could still change my mind lol) but then I get scared and feel like I won't be good enough, or I'll get the dog from hell or something I can't handle, lol... and then sometimes I think I'll just get a Silky Terrier so I can have two dogs alike, but then I feel like I'll never branch out.

I think a Border Terrier would be a good dog to stay in my comfort zone, yet branch out a little bit and explore...

a Border Terrier has been on my brain for like 2 weeks now. I'm hoping to go meet this breeders dogs at some point, so I hope I can get more of a 'feel' and then I'm starting an agility class in a few weeks where I know there'll be at least one Border Collie ... so I'll get maybe some hands on experience with them, etc. I think that's the point I'm at now.

So just kind of a ramble. But for some reason, my brain keeps coming back to Border Terrier.

A rescue here has some seriously adorable Border mixes ;)

I have seen more Border Terriers here than anywhere else! Like, I'm not even suprised when they come in our store anymore, it's like seeing a lab or a beagle.

I've known a few...they've all been great dogs.

My friend recently adopted a 1 year old Border X (we think with JRT), she's a tiny little thing with just about the best personality of any dog I've ever met. I'm actually super jealous my friend has her. She's PERFECT. Medium-high energy, smart as a whip, really trainable with drive but not one of those super drivey dogs that need some serious handling to prevent them from loosing their minds.

I could see this dog developing behavioral problems IF she didn't get enough stimulation, but my friend does a lot with her (no sports or anything, just basic training, but takes her pretty much everywhere with her, hiking, to visit friends with dogs, shopping, etc.) and has had just about zero issues with her. Plus, she's got a snaggletooth and her ears go all wonky.

Eeeeeeeeee! I'm glad! I hope you do get one. I could really see you (and Jackson!) with a Border Terrier. And they are ADORABLE!
