In case you were wondering. Here's a rundown of my last 5 1/2 hours.

So remember on Friday my car broke down and I was stranded in Tulsa. Car needs a new transmission so I'm driving a loaned car.

I'm driving and notice a HUGE storm out a ways. I call my dad to ask if the storm is supposed to have hail. I can't fit a car in my garage right now. We decide I'll drive a little west and just wait it out as it blows through. My dad says it should be moving through in about 30 minutes.

Well I get a little west and a little south and still don't look clear so I go further. And further. and further. Till it's clear that there is no way to escape this storm. And there's another brewing south of me and heading the opposite direction. Oh... and now there's a tornado right behind me that touched down. Great. So I keep high tailing it west. another pops up right in front of me. Basically, I ended up in the spot where all three storms converged into one huge storm. It started hailing so I'm trying to get out of the hail. I'm in no man's land with just fields and windmills around. Nowhere for shelter. I call my dad at one point and he's outside in the hail at his place trying to get the cat inside. The cat is absolutely SCREAMING bloody murder. I felt so bad for her, but she's okay.

I take a bunch of turns trying to get out of the hail and wind and get hopelessly lost. I have no clue where I am and I keep on driving towards the least amount of hail. I finally am driving and notice a line of 9 drilling rigs on my right that so happened to be in the area I work (which is way far away from my house). So I was able to orient myself based on the rigs and go towards civilization. (so my map making work actually had a practical use lol) I see lights and end up at a truck stop that I had been at about 3 weeks ago.

I pulled over there. Waited through 4 more hail storms with a bunch of other people. In between the last two, I decided to run back towards my house and barely missed the last one which was dropping 3 inch diameter hail on the truck stop according to the radio. I just finally made it back home. The poor rental car. :( It got beat. It's dark, I can't tell how much damage there is. :/

The only good news was once I got home the dogs were fine and I had power, which most people around here don't seem to.

Moral of the story:

1. Clean out your garage so you can get a car in there.

2. Don't go driving in a tornado/hail storm.

3. I would make a bad storm chaser.

Ugh I don't think I'm mentally cut out for it, lol. Now I'm hearing that tomorrow is supposed to be a repeat show. I definitely plan on NOT being caught out on the roads in it.

The lightning afterwards was some of the neatest I've seen.

But yeah, I don't like it when the storms go a different direction than where the weathermen say they're going. They converged then backfilled the area I was in. I picked the wrong spot.
