I broke up with my boyfriend and moved back to my hometown. Technically Toby is my dog so I brought him here with me. I was staying with my mom and her husband and after 2 months she suddenly decided she had helped me enough. So with hardly any money and just my bedroom furniture I had to find a place to live. Meanwhile my then ex-boyfriend was coming to visit to try and get back with me so I let him take Toby back home with him.

Since I didn't know what my situation was gonna be I thought it would be for the best that he go back to that fimiliar environment. It's now been a little over a year. My boyfriend and I are seeing each other again. We both are taking a weeks vacation from our jobs this week. Later today he is coming to pick me up and take me back to his house to stay a couple days there.

I keep thinking that a year is a long time to a dog. I'll be happy to see him but nervous too. I know its going to be extremely difficult to leave him again when its time to come home.

He will remember you.
When I lived in the UK for just over a year I was convinced my parents/my dog would not remember me. Well, when we got back from the airport she just about turned herself inside out!

Awwww. Don't worry about it! Toby couldn't forget his Mommy. Just focus on having a good time with your boy. You're doing the right thing for him, and I'm sure he understands that.

I have missed seeing you and Toby. He's one of the most adorable Cresteds (or... dogs in general) I've ever seen! Give him a hug for me.

I just know he will remember you. When I was young, my brother went overseas in the service and was not home for 3 years. Our dog that knew him for only a year, knew him as soon as he walked through the door. My dog peed all over the floor in excitement.

Thanks guys :) I'm leaving in about an hour I think.

ihartgonzo- Thank you, I'll take some up to date pics of him while I'm there. My boyfriend bathes him and gets his nails trimmed regularly but other than that doesn't keep him as well groomed as I did (like the pics in my sig). I imagine he has gotten quite shaggy-fied.

He'll for sure remember you. When I moved out of my dad's house at 14 I had to leave my labs with him since they were family dogs. I didn't go back for almost 2 years and when I did and those dogs saw me they went nuts. They clearly remembered me. Good luck.

You jumped into my mind a couple of weeks ago . . . :)

Toby will remember you. He might act like he's ignoring you for awhile, but he'll remember!

Don't disappear on us again, okay? I've missed you.

I have run into dogs from teh kennel that i hadn't seen for years and years. THis is how i know he will remember you. IF mooner who i hadn't seen for a long long time, years nad years,, could recognize me from over a hundred yards away, and assume the position (play bow) of our favorite game, then i know your dog couldn't possibly forget after a measly year.
