Earlier this week I emailed several shelters in my area offering to volunteer. I was excited, eager to do something in this field for quite a while. I've been applying as a volunteer for several years. At long last, I have a response!

Today is the new Volunteer Orientation and I'll be leaving in just a few minutes to go. The Orientation will be talking about what volunteers do, which fields we may be useful for, and will help us to know if we could be useful right now and if so where we will be useful.

I haven't felt this happy/energetic in years. :lol-sign:

Here's hoping all goes well!

I just really want to get in there, good bad or ugly, and help as much as I can.

Dawn saw me getting dressed and thought for sure we were going to the park. The only time I ever go anywhere anymore, as far as she's concerned, is when a park trip is about to come. She was very disappointed when I crated her just a moment ago. Oh well, she hasn't had me leave for a job since January!

Eeee, excited! :yikes:

This is GREAT! Kudos to you. I bet they'll find lots of things for you to do to help. I'm glad you finally get to do what you've wanted to do for a long time. I hope all goes well. Good luck!

The meeting was very long but during the tour I got about 60 photos of dogs and cats, just for the heck of it.

I'll be walking and socializing the dogs in the adoption section for the most part. I also asked to be part of the photo team because they really need much better images of the animals that go through the process.

Overall it's not seeming to be as strenuous as I thought it might be. :D

I'm eager to start on Monday. First, though, is dog-walking-training tomorrow. Might seem silly but they go over lots of safety stuff.

And, typically, I almost got knocked over by Ms. Dawn the instant I walked through our door. 27 pounds bowling into your legs tends to do that. She proceeded to "yell" at me for about 10 minutes too. XD
