I'm another undecided! I feel like I can't really say a breed that I haven't owned, and I've really only ever owned corgis in my adult life. And I know they aren't the breed for me, so I DON'T KNOW!!! :p

    Chloe :)

But really I don't know. Whippets sound like the perfect breed for me, and will hopefully be my next dog, but since I haven't owned one, I don't know. If Whippets are the way I think they are (just a bigger version of Chloe ;)) then Whippets. :) (Shorthair AND Longhair)

I would say Izzies forever. She fits me like an old shoe and I adore her.

    But since that's not possible...

I think i would have to say FCRs. I adore them and they can do almost everything I'd want to do (boo no herding) and they have a personality I love. I haven't had one yet but I've tried to drown myself in them and I came out wanting more.

Truly smooth aussies are not possible as smooth coat is a dominant trait in double coated breeds so in order for any offspring to be smooth coated at least one parent must also be smooth coated and Aussies are homozygous for longcoat gene.

Ignoring any health conditions (such as allergies or mange) that may cause hair loss in any dog, my Lark is as short coated as they come. What you see in these photos is a perfect outline of her body her coat lays slick against her body only her neck and britches have any considerable fluffy right now.

Tho she will probably gain a little more coat as she ages she will never be super fluffy.

If I could only ever own one breed, I'd have to say a Blackie. LOL Loyal, intelligent, biddable, large, short thick coat, protective, not overly barky, good with family animals, stable, confident, trustworthy, athletic, playful, loves to wrestle and be physical and food motivated/willing to please.

So, either a good Lab, a good Chessie, or possibly a good Rottie.

If I could find the right Lab breeder in my area, I'd say Labrador all the way.

I love Lark's coat actually. I have no idea if it's the desired Aussie coat but I'm a big fan of a tight weather-resistant coat with some trim. She's a pretty girl.

Me too! I'd be far more interested in Aussies for lack of fluff! I like hair but more like that.

I don't know if it's typical, but O'Reilly's shedding really diminished as he matured. Once that puppy coat was gone he really didn't shed much, and if he got dirty, once he was dry it magically disappeared. All he ever really needed was a little brushing/combing. :)

Well really it all comes down to interpretation, The standard calls for a "Medium length" coat. That could mean anything from more than a Labrador to less than an Afghan Hound lol, tho I would consider Lark to have a Medium correct coat. I feel that Hawk's mane is a little too long (mind you it is trimmed in all my recent photos so you can't tell the real length) but his body and legs are all medium length.

If I had to choose one breed to have the rest of my life, I guess I would choose the Doberman. Dogo Argentinos and Greyhounds would be right behind them.

    Not very coated Aussie:

I still think we should breed her to Pirate and create some badass cow dogs. Though I think the final decision was to breed her to a Mudi and create Audis.

This is a very hard one for me .

In a perfect world, I could just keep keely forever. But that wont happen. :/
Keely , although ive never really been a small dog person, is my perfect dog. Shes small, so you can take her places easily, people let me take her to their places because shes small and doesnt shed. But she is still a Very very sturdy dog. She rules the largest dogs at the dog park, shes full of energy when your ready to play but will stay home all day and cuddle up with you and sleep if thats what you wanted. Shes intelligent, learns things super fast. She is overall, A very well rounded, wonderful animal.

That said, ive met FAR too many yorkshire terriers , that although i find some are nice little dogs, they just are not like keely, at all , so I am very unsure if i will ever own another one..
Keely is a very hard dog to decribe to somebody that hasnt met her. Shes that dog that EVERYBODY loves. Even people that do not like dogs, like keely.

I love German shepherd too . BUT

I LOVE LABS (there I admitted it.)
I have NEVER been a fan of labs. To be honest I thought they were very generic dogs. EVERYBODY has a lab (essentially) . I found most to be boring, and the ones that i didnt find boring i thought were too "over the top , hyper , on some sort of drugs, in your face" dogs.

Then I met justin (my BF) and with justin came Casey (black lab) .
Long story short, 2.5 years later. Casey is "My dog" . She is completly for me. She has been a struggle, she was a young puppy that was taught no manners, didnt know what it was like to go for a walk or have any sort of stimulation or training. But man, that girl has turned out amazing.. She is a very in your face dog. She wants to be in my lap all of the time. She is the definition of a sook. She has a very high energy level but calms easily. From my love of casey i have spent more time around other labs and love them .

So what i am trying to say after a very longwinded msg, is well... I wouldnt be able to choose. I just really could not.
