I wrote this story. About a boy who runs away, rescues an abused pit bull...and well, just read it to find out Unforgettable Adventure By Breawna B It was one normal night at Deacon Lake. It was a pretty decent place to be. I was there with my friends, Jack, Connor & Jimmy. "We're gonna pull a little prank tonight, boys" I laughed. They smiled. We all liked playing pranks and this one was one of our best. I pulled a screw driver out of my pocket and we walked onto the covered dock. Nobody was on this dog because it was raining, but sometimes people fished on it. We went to the end of the dog and I carefully unscrewed the first 6 wood panels. A while after I'd unscrewed them, a man, maybe in his 50s, walked down the dock and onto the planks we had unscrewed. He fell. But one leg didn’t go down the same time as the other one. It hit the dog and it was like he did the splits in thin air. That wasn’t the way it was supposed to work. Nobody was supposed to get hurt. As someone called the ambulance and police, I ran over and grabbed the man’s hand, yanking him up onto the dock with all my might. The police and an ambulance arrived soon after and came over to the four of us. “Who did this?” he asked, he had a stern look on his face as he stared with anticipation into our eyes. My so called “friends” looked at me. The police man took out his hand cuffs and started to say “Son”, but I bolted. Running faster than I had ever run before, I charged away from the lake. I could hear the police man right behind me, his heavy foot steps and his loud screaming. I tried running faster, but I felt as if I was running as fast as I could, but I advanced speed and ran down the side walk. He was quick for a man in his 20s or 30s. I looked behind myself and saw that he had stopped. He had his walkie talkie in his hands and I could hear him calling for back up and an attack dog. “Oh no” I whispered to myself. I’d seen those dogs before and they were mean. They did anything their master’s asked and one of their top commands was to attack other people. Knowing I had to hurry, I advanced speed again. I could never beat a dog so I needed a head start. Tripping over my feet, I kept running along the side walk. I looked behind myself and as far away as I was from the lake now, I saw the dog had arrived. A big, buff German shepherd was out of the car and the master was looking around for me. As I moved on the sidewalk, I knew I had to get out of sight immediately. My heart was beating crazily and I was panting so hard I felt like my lungs wouldn’t take in anymore air. I went behind the nearest building and found an entrance. I ran around in circles and retraced it, and then I turned around and ran out of the building. Then I saw the dog, the master was looking right at me and he was going to let the dog off the lead. I thought I was a goner for a moment but then I saw a tree house behind one of the houses. I ran around the house and up the ladder that led to the little house. Sitting down in it I tried to quite down my panting. My throat was dry and my heart was trying it’s hardest to pump blood, but it felt like it was going to fail. I was extremely lucky. I didn’t think I was going to make it. Feeling like just letting myself die, I lied down on the hard wood and closed my eyes. As tired as I was from running, I fell asleep. More of the story coming! Read on.
