Wonderful! Especially for a first attempt. I paint in acrylic and it is difficult to get a handle on because it drys so quickly. THe good thing is you can usually go over and over something if you don't like it the first time, it has a good cover ability. THe best way is just to practice. I hope you do many more!!!!!

Good job I paint acrylic to. When ever I am not quite sure what color scheme to get the background etc I get the canvas wet first. Blending color so much easier that way. Also does not dry until I am done and let it set. Have you ever used oils? I have never done water color but love oil.

Thanks, you guys.:) I used oils about 4 years ago when I was 11. However I haven't really painted since. I plan on doing about 1 a day so I can get better, so you can be expecting more. Thanks for the tips!

sunsets are always hard..when you are trying to reproduce something in nature that is so unbelievably beautiful in the first place YOu will almost always be not quite pleased that your rendition didn't turn out the same way. You made a fabulous attempt! I hope you keep up, it is when i am dissastified with my work that i know i am getting better!

Hey Vivien,
Great job on both! Both are very expressive and nicely textured!!!
I just got back in to acrylics - they are a fun medium to work with ... especially because like Smkie said, when or if you make a mistake, you can go back over it. I like to put down a layer of colour, light or dark and work up from there, leaving the major highlights and shadows until last.
You've got a wonderful talent here! Keep up the good work!! :)
