I think I found someones pet rat!!! HELP!

Go door to door on your floor, asking if they've lost a pet, without going into details?

Sounds like the landlord is paranoid of a rat overrun... same reason rats aren't allowed in Alberta.

Alberta is 'rat free' or at least trying to be, so pet rats are a big no no. They have a rat patrol that is working on a dump in a city near the Sask border since rats have been found there. Not sure how well it'd work long term, but....

I still think rats would just migrate eventually anyhow.

That's good that you were able to find her owners!

I have heard of some apartments allowing dogs and cats but not caged pets (I believe PWCorgi has said her apartment doesn't allow rats) - I would think they would be less annoying and less damaging, but most landlords don't like the idea of rats and mice "escaping" - people might not realize they're pets, and freak out.

They are sneaky little things, that's for sure!! My Daisy, who is by far my largest rat can still squeeze under a door in the blink of an eye. It's creepy to watch :lol-sign:

And yeah, my apartment ONLY allows cats and dogs and fish. No rats, no geckos, no hedgehogs, no goats (yes, this is specified, lol), etc. Which is why my girls get wheeled into the closet when maintenance comes in
