Okay, i'm seriously getting frustrated by all the food problems I'm having. I literally live out in the middle of nowhere so I'm really limited to what I can buy. I started my 14 wk. sheltie out on Nutro but recently found a store that carries Royal Canin. I bought him a small bag of the med. puppy formula and he LOVES it. I thought I was doing good by switching him to Royal Canin, but now I'm finding posts on here that say it isn't a good brand. Is it or isn't it?? I can't get anything shipped to my house...just not an option. What are your thoughts on Royal Canin as compared to Nutro brands.

I honestly don't know a thing about Royal Canin.
I do know that alot of people here in the UK say that Nutro is one of the best.
I can't feed Bailey any dried food as every brand i have tried results in severe diarrhea :(
I have recently weaned him back on to Canned food (this he is ok with) and in a few months time i will have my last attempt at changing him over to James Wellbeloved (Dried) as this is supposed to be the best food for dogs with sensitive stomachs.

I'm not sure which Nutro food you are feeding, but...

From the ingredients lists of Nutro Natural Choice Puppy, Chicken, Rice, and Oatmeal Formula, and the Royal Canin Medium Puppy 32 Formula, RC looks better.

i had him on the Nutro Lamb Meal & Rice Formula. Now he's on the Royal Canin medium puppy formula. He seems to like the taste of RC a lot better if that accounts for anything...

Royal canin is not a bad food, and definitely classes better than Nutro. If you are limited in the brands you can buy, chances are that Royal Canin is probably the best quality food for your situation. Please don't feel bad about that. :)

I would definatley put Royal Canin above Nutro by far.....I feed it and it has worked well for me. I would stick with it if I were you in your situation especially.

Check out Timberwolf Organics. They ship to a lot of rural areas (me), and shipping is cheap from them. Its kinda pricey, but not any worse than Evo or some others.
