I need a quick grooming lesson!

Ok, its been a while since I've done this in school (I was in a pre vet tech class and we ran a bathe/brush/nails grooming thing out the other back room) but I am applying for a part time dog bather position, with possibly some brushing and nail trimming. I remember the nail trimming, but have forgotten all about which brushes to use in what situation. Help please!!!!

But, perhaps you should take a class? Knowing which brush does what and exactly how to use it is very important in grooming! I personally wouldn't hire someone to groom dogs who had been told approximately how to use the tools on the internet.
It doesn't sound like this is an intense job where you'll have to do advanced styling and clipping, but it would make me uneasy to hear these questions from someone who is wanting to have a job as a groomer so soon.

It doesn't sound like this is an actual grooming position, she said it's for bathing/brushing. I think she just wants to sound knowledgeable if asked about a slicker vs an undercoat rake, and so forth. Unfortunately it's late and I need to head to bed, I'll contribute some more tomorrow when I can .

Its not even at a grooming salon. Its a local kennel who is looking for help around the place, but brushing/bathing is a big part of the position. I don't even know what breed at this point. I'll find out when I call about the position tomorrow morning. I just want a quick overview of which brushes are used for which types of coats for the most part. Any other info is good too though

I wish I could offer more help, but I'm not really the person to ask. With my medium length coat dogs I just gently use a wire brush for tangles after a bath and then go over with a soft bristle brush. (Undercoat rake in the summer.)
There are lots more people here more experienced than me, so I know you'll get the help you'll need. Good luck with everything!

Its all good I didn't really explain much in the post, both because I don't know much about the position and was in a hurry to type it out lol
