I need a fix for a curiosity.

So we're thinking in a couple years about buying another dog. Someone that sadie can play with and chase after,and romp around with...rather than our 8 pound cat. Sadie is pretty high energy,being both lab and pitbull,but she's not bouncing off the walls. So i'm thinking of a breed that will wear down with her but has enough energy to keep her occupied and doesn't wear down before her. She's only 6 months old and she wore out my girlfriends parent's german shepherd husky mix.

Any suggestions on a breed? I'm thinking of maybe a medium sized breed,but i'm not closed off to another larger breed,but nothing over 60 pounds.

Maybea lab/shepherd mix? I know a lot of Lab people who *swear* by the combination of lab and shepherds as the perfect companions for each other.

Depends on what you want in a dog. You can always get a higher energy version of that breed. (Even JRTs come in high and low energy drives. Dekka NEVER plays with other dogs, yet Kat would play forever)

I'm looking for a smart,easy to train dog,but also good with children,and some what low maintenance. I don't mind grooming,but I don't want it to consume my life.

That puts sooo many breeds in your range. If you are looking into rescue pretty much any breed could fit your req. Bounce, for example, would fit your req perfectly!

Thats good to know. So I guess it just becomes a matter of going and looking at dogs at a shelter and picking one out that we like.

Yes that would work well, as would rescues. OR if you do fall in love with a breed you could see if a breeder has a slightly older puppy or retired breeding dog that is what you want. Sounds like you have so many options to find the perfect dog (which is great)

Yeah I think shelters would be a great start. We got in a lot of lab x with something smaller that would definitely fit your criteria.

Vizsla may be too high energy! I love them though,they're beautiful dogs.

How about a wire-hair Vizsla? I heard that they were a lot calmer than the smooth hair version.
