I Made Homemade Dog Food Tonight!!

And it was pretty good. I had some.

I boiled a pound and a half of ground turkey as well as a pound and half of white meat chicken. I also added 6 cups of brown rice. I gave Lucy and Kona a sample and they loved it.

The best part about it is that it works out to be about the same price as their regular food.

Are you following a recipie? Just meat and rice doesn't have all the nutrients they need... are you adding any suppliments?

This was a test batch

I kind of got a wild hair yesterday. I had read the Dog Whisperer, the original one not Ceasar, and had always wanted to do it. That has a good recipe.

The next time I do it I will add all the veggies and vitamins and the like.

My other motivation was that Kona has been having an allergic reaction to something and I wanted to get her on a very simple diet. Kind of like the brat diet you give kids when they are sick.
