ACK! I was holding my breath throughout your story. I'm so glad she's ok. I think Renee made a great point about how she will be more confident in traffic since she succeeded. OMG that's so stressful. Poor you too. (((hugs)))

How terrifying! I do have to agree with everyone and the harness. Even if she doesn't want to walk with it on, put it on, she will eventually get used to it. It's so much safter since she is getting out of the collar. I would rather my dog be pissed off with me putting a harness on them than to not have my dog around any longer. I am also glad that you are all okay.

That really sucks!!! I know how you felt, sorta.
My dog did that once, but he is much bigger and jumped out of the way of a car and luckily was fine, but it's a scary thing to happen and I can't imagine that happening while trying to get your other two dogs as well!!!
I almost hit a dog with my car and that was one freaky moment. These kids, about 3 of them from ages 7-11, where walking their dog (looked retriever mix.). The dog slipped the collar on a realy busy road and here I come going the 35 mph speed limit and the dog runs right in front of me!!!
That scared the crap out of me!! I could hear the kids screaming the dogs name and one just plain screaming and I swerved and missed the dog and it ran back to the kids!! Those kind of things can be so nerve wrecking.
But everything worked out for you guys this time, which im glad about!!
Take care.

ralph was hit by a car once but he didnt feel a thing!!

tam(bo's dad) escaped from my garden and the police tried to catch him but he got scared and ran into the path of a fast car, we rushed him to the vets and he had a squashed foot but no damage

How Scary for you!!! Im so sorry you had to go through that. My mums toy Poodle Brutis did something similar to that before just about gave her a heart attack. He got rolled though no big time injuries kinda like Smkie said Brutis doesent even go near the road anymore lol.
