Did I ever say it was the duty of the members on here to make me feel welcome/that I fit in? In fact I really haven't fit in to most any group for most of my life, even my family. I don't really aim to please and if I do not fit in/get readily accepted it doesn't really bother me very much.

I'll keep the rest of your points in mind and will reserve comment about the self improvement thing.

I do know the meaning of the words I use - if a phrase seems misplaced here or there now and again I can elaborate on why. Like I said, I'll keep your points in mind though.
For what it's worth, I think you fit in just fine. I'm glad you're here. Just because you have quirks, dislikes, likes that aren't altogether in line with another bunch, doesn't mean diddly squat to me. You seem to be a nice person from what I've gathered. So...you don't care for flighty, silly, super bubbly people. Big woop. I don't like Cesar Milan. And I'm sure most people have some type of person they don't like. How boring would it be if everyone were all the same? If you're not very happy, that sucks. But I bet that can be worked through in time. You'll figure it out. You're still young. And also very pretty. ;)

or....agree to disagree--why must we all have the same view point? Give your opinion, and move on--to each their own.
Its a fine line... Validating that someone feels frustrated with a certain type of person, validating that some people really do rub us the wrong way, versus enabling destructive behavior and hateful language.

I do think there is a time and a place to set boundaries on acceptable and unacceptable behavior - hello dog fireworks thread? I can allow for that person to be a human with intrinsic value without accepting the behavior.

In this case, I do get how some people are irritating. I think we all get that. I’m even okay with voicing it. Where I draw the line is making judgements and criticisms of a person based on no evidence other than “you†find them irritating. That’s not cool. Nor is it accurate.

“Oh that SuzieQ, she’s always so happy and peppy! It drives me nuts.â€
As opposed to:
“Oh that SuzieQ, she’s always so happy and peppy. Since I don’t like her (or don’t understand her, or don’t get her, or don’t want to be like her etc.) clearly she’s an empty-headed moron who doesn’t have enough brain cells to rub together to understand that there are other states than perpetual happiness."

I can't believe how some of you guys are so serious and place so much importance on this stuff. I just don't get it. Oh well. Maybe I'm a bimbo.:rofl1:

You guys need to laugh more:

I've seen some dog topics, like the the horror of feeding a lower quality dog food, that make me shrug and move on.

That said, those of us who were serious also flipped to awesome photos of our dogs, it's the bubbly bimbo in us all. :p

I LOVED the pictures of the dogs. They really can teach us a lot about how to live.

I agree. It's all good if you have some clever insightful way of processing bad stuff but if you're oblivious to all imperfections and "badness" then it gets on my nerves lol In reality some things do actually suck and if we can't have a proper conversation about them then we aren't going to get very far. There is such a thing as too much optimism.

(but on the other hand, Mr/s Doom and Gloom is annoying as well).

I think the 'mr doom & gloom' (which is where my fiancée is right now) is worse then miss/mr happy pants, both are equally contagious but I'd rather catch 'happy pants sundrome' then 'gloom fever' which is why I never stay more then 24 hrs here... I don't tell him that cuz I don't want him to feel bad but it's true, sometimes I dread coming here because of the funk factor :/

I will be attending temple very frequently for not so happy reasons and starting studies with the Abbot soon - I'm sure all of this will come up quite soon during this time - Tolerance, respect, indifference, and maintaining inner calm.

For the record - I did not attempt to judge anyone or persecute them simply for being 'happy people'. As far as the person that I know in real life goes - I know her well enough to make comment and it is not just me being irritated by her that makes me have criticisms of her; it goes beyond that and is probably best left to discuss with people that we have in common/relevant to the situation (if it is ever brought up at all - these days if I'm not on the edge of a nervous breakdown I prefer doing other things to gossiping) rather than going into details on here.

Plottmom, Doberluv,

Thank you both =) but I'm fine - I've taken alot worse before and survived through that. Mostly in person though - but definitely online too.

Katalin is somewhat like me yet so different - even when I was her age (or the equivalent of it) - I wasn't very outgoing, friendly, or inquisitive. I was really caustic and cold; it's alot better now but I still have problems. Katalin is completely happy-go-lucky, spazzy, and without reserve in enthusiasm, affection, and curiosity (alot of the times too much so for her own good...). Maybe she'll be a reflection of a softer attitude of mine now/in my older years then as she grows up she'll be like me when I was younger? LOL I dunno...

She's always pretty happy all in all though - unless someone pays us a visit at home unannounced at 3 AM...

I totally missed the fun dog picture posting portion of this thread. Tough, I'm doing it now 10 pages too late, because nobody does mood extremes like Meg.

I always tell people that Meg is who I am, and Gusto is who I try to be. Note that there are no moody pictures of Gusto. Ever. Don't hold your breath waiting for them.

Not sure about the Bimbos... But people who are always happy ARE sometimes hard to endure. I have a coworker who is ALWAYS chippy and smiling and some days it just drives me nuts. And I usually have a good attitude, help out, cheer others up, etc. But especially when I can tell it's not sincere... Then why put on a show?

It's different to say 'So and so grates on my nerves.' 'X trait drives me nuts.' Everyone has their hangups. I know I have some really weird ones, lol.

But that is different than saying 'I don't like people that are _____. People that are _____ are bitches with nothing in their lives other than ______ and no emotional depth.' Blah blah blah.

Btw, Summer is the ultimate doggy 'bimbo' according to this thread.

1. she's always happy. And she's obnoxiously happy. And must let everyone know she's HAPPY. And she loves everyone and everything (except baths and brushing her teeth)

2. She has absolutely ZERO common sense. She's nicknamed 'Dumb Dog' for a reason. She's always very derpy.

3. She's blonde and cute. ;)

4. She's the only dog I've had that has had s-e-x. I admit, I joke around and call Summer a slut.

I've kinda read this thread but while we're completely derailing anyway... Why would you purposely try to make someone feel awful? :( there's a great chance the OP has a much healthier self esteem than I do (actually I really hope she does...) but if I'd said I felt welcomed and at home here, and this was your response, I'd probably cry, delete allllll my posts while crying, and never come back :( I realize I'm overly sensitive... but that just seems needlessly mean.
That wasnt' my intention. My point was is that it gets even better. I have read her threads. I don't feel we, as a community, have been welcoming. (for various reasons) If this is what she feels as welcome, it can only get better with time and better understanding of the forum.

as for happy dogs. Not my dog but hey this makes me smile

You have a pet sloth??

*

On happiness, my current mood/situation, and just my general feelings...

Raindrops falling from heaven
Could never take away my misery
But since we're not together
I pray for stormy weather
To hide these tears I hope you'll never see

Someday when my crying's done
I'm gonna wear a smile and walk in the sun
I may be a fool
But till then, darling, you'll never see me complain
I'll do my crying in the rain

Love this song. I miss my dad's vinyl/8 track collection from when I was really little.
