hm... if the crate is big, maybe you could keep that in your room for sleeping at night, and she could stay in the x-pen downstairs with potty pads & a bed & toys during the day? I did this with my pup when we were leaving for more than 2 hours, and he was reliably house-trained within a week. I gave him only indestructible toys in his x-pen: puppy kongs, treat-dispensing toys, rope toys, raw bones, bully sticks, etc. I stuffed the puppy kongs & treat-dispensing toys to keep him entertained, too.

I think your schedule can definitely work. I would also worry about an 8 week-old holding it for 3+ hours.... so an exercise pen would definitely be ideal until she's a little bit older. :) OMGZ she is sooo cute! I love her markings, and her Mom and Dad are gawjus! Is her name going to be Skye?

Gorgeous parents and cute pup! Congratulations!
FYI you can get an ex-pen at Petsmart or any dog supply place- that will work better than sectioning off part of a large crate I would think.
