I don't think I've ever drawn a dog. Or at least nothing more than a basic crappy sketch. It's been a LONG time since I've done an actual pencil drawing, probably years. But I kind of miss it.

I'm posting a WIP because I know if I don't I'll never finish it.

These EARS, I swear, they're going to do me in :p Sorry, crappy cell pic.

I'm going to get some drawing pencils tomorrow. I know I have some around here, but I have NO idea where. And this mechanical pencil is not cutting it.

Make sure you date your pieces so you can see your progress. We are all rusty when time goes by. I think this is a wonderful start.

I like it so far! It's always tricky to try drawing something new. I'm that way with machinery, vehicles and anything like that - I had to draw someone holding a gun for a commission once, and spent half the time just referencing photos of guns and trying to get the darn gun right, and it was a pretty minimal part of the overall piece. :rofl1:

Would you like constructive criticism? If not, that's fine. :) I'll give it if asked, I refrain if not.

I would LOVE constructive criticism! :D

I haven't had a chance to get pencils yet, but plan to a little later.

I just got a nice little charcoal starter set on sale, plus a couple different erasers, a sharpener, and 7 very nice pencils for a total of $11. Three of the pencils are actually water-soluble graphite sticks that should be fun to play with. Two are this big chunky triangular things that I LOVE. And the rest are boring HB - 4H pencils. I am so in love with the 8B graphite stick. I was going to get some tortillons too but I forgot. Oh well, I found one in my box-o-stuff. nd I have fingers :p

I think I'm going to re-start this one in a couple weeks. I'm not done, but I'm not too thrilled with where it's going. I shouldn't have started with a black dog :p I'm going to go mess about and break in the new pencils (they're still leaving those deep dark gouges in the paper >.<) and see what happens.

I swear her muzzle doesn't look that messed up in my sketchbook. It is kind of wonky, but not THAT wonky o.0
