How can I give this dog up? I have only had him 2 weeks and I am head over heels in love with this dog. As i type he is asleep on my pillow. His entire body, is ON my pillow. I just love him and all his quirks. I secretly hope they don't find a home for him.

    Maybe my parents will understand......

lol, the first one is always the hardest!

I fostered bunnies growing up, and we had a couple "failed fosters" over the years...but the more we did, the easier it was to give them up.

Are you a part of the screening process to find him a new home? It might help if you knew where the little guy was going.

I dont live with my parents but I just know theyd be furious.

I am part of it, but I dont get to ultimately decide. The rescue doesnt rly let you choose your own dog, they pair a dog with you based off your home visit.

I had the same problem when I brought Tallulah home -- plus she is one of those evil pit bulls who can't be trusted  My mother quoted every Nancy Grace program she could think of and all the "pit bull attacks" reported on Fox News.

Now she's the first one into the fray when someone says something negative about Pit Bulls. And Tallulah's the one of my dogs that she tells people she'd be most likely to keep with her at her house if she were going to keep one of my dogs (yah, like I'd go along with THAT).

Have faith. If JD is yours, keep him.

Its just that my parents do help me out financially occasionally and adding another dog is what they think would be detrimental to me paying off my debt. They do have a VALID point, I don't need him and he would be fine settling in somewhere else.

I am trying to get the best of both worlds and find someone I know that will adopt him

Maybe a close friend would adopt him so you could see him all the time.

He's sure a cutie. I know how easy it is to love your fosters, but just think about how many more dogs like him that you can help if you let him go to a different home where he will be loved and cherished. If you keep him, you probably won't be able to foster any more dogs like him that deserve a chance. Of course, if you decide to keep him he'll have a great home.

Personally, I would just want to meet the family and ask that they send updates, but I would let him get adopted because I would want to keep helping more. The first is the hardest, but it won't be easy to give any of them up. My last foster would have been perfect for our family (and we were looking for a dog), but I had already had a few people email about her within a few days, and I had committed to bringing her to the event. She got adopted by a family that week that loved her and as hard as it was for me to give her up, now we have Boo, who couldn't have been a better choice.

I know you'll make the best decision, good luck with whatever you decide to do.

Well, they don't have to receive an announcement in the mail if you decide to keep him. ;) You could just let them go on thinking he's still being fostered, and that the rescue is paying his expenses.

You all make very good points.

I have decided to just wait it out and IF he finds a home, then it was meant to be, and if not, then he belongs here.
