When Carey was still a puppy we had a teen come up to our porch late one night, wanting to use our phone, Carey stood under James' chair on the porch growling.

When Maggie was a baby she would stand in front of anyone (people she doesn't know well, in-laws and others) until they put her down. I guess she was just making sure they weren't gonna drop her or take off with her.

She's always been more protective of me than James. She will actually protect me from James sometimes. We tend to play very rough, always have. Carey usually understands this and just chases us. One night James was chasing me I ran into the bathroom and closed the door, when I came out, I ran into the kitchen hollering, James was right behind me and Carey jumped up and nipped him on the butt!

He will also play spank me. As long as I don't say anything Carey doesn't mind. But if I fuss some she'll start barking. If I do the exact same thing to James and he fusses, she'll just look at him "What do you want me to do?"

One night James came walking out of our bedroom with a ski mask on, very stupid idea. Carey knew it was him b/c she was wagging her tail but she didn't trust just her sense of smell and had a low growl. Then he stepped towards me, Carey got in between us and growled some more, I told James he better take it off before Carey got him. She realized it was def him and went all tail wags.

Once I saw a car pulling up in the yard, I thought it was a friend of ours so I went outside, taking Carey with me. Turns out it was just some guy going door to door looking for work. Carey was running around the car in circles. He said "I wasn't about to get out." I said "Yeah she's very protective of me." Although at that time I knew Carey was just wanting to go for a ride (she doesn't get protective until someone gets out) but I wasn't gonna tell him that.

Carey loves people, but doesn't like anyone that we just let right in the house. But if she meets you outside and you pet her, she loves you to death and will not leave you alone.

You tell her she is very welcome and give her a belly rub from me. Every child deserves to have such a dog.

Lino is a good watch dog, he will only let my girlfriend, good friends, family and I in our appartment. If someone rings our doorbell he goes mental.

Today on our morning walk he even wanted to gaurd some sheep that dont belong to us, just stood there like a statue watching over them, after 20 mins I was bored and dragged him away, he could have stayed like that for days.

My puppy is still young but he has started growling and barking at noises outside the house. But when the door opens up, forget it. He might kill you by licking, but that's it. Things he barks at most, cars with lots of bass, thunderstorms and knocking. I'm glad he has started barking, that was one of the main reasons of getting a dog, protection. Since he is a Beagel, his bark is nice and loud.

i have a question for elinhunter. is huter the brown dog in ur pic, what type of dog is he?
Hi, LEA... the brown dog is actually a deep red... that was my Eli, a golden retriever. The lab is my original -- Yogi. They're both gone now :( I've been trying to download Hunter's pic (he's a yella lab) for a signature, but tiny.pic that I use just keeps locking up and won't let me! GRRRR....

I've got one more to add, today I went to Petsmart with Peanut to pick up a few things. There were 2 dobermans, 1 large and one not so large. We walked up the aisle to look at a new leash for Peanut and some chew toys. As soon as they heard us, they turned and had a good look at Peanut. I guess Peanut fealt that they were threatening her/me and she went absolutely ballistic! I had her on a 6 foot leash and had to wrap it around my hand to keep her from attacking. She was SO determined to fight those dogs. She even stood up on her back two legs and started barking. She is extremely dog aggressive, no matter how much I try to socialize her. I had to move her to a different part of the store to quiet her down a bit. But, the barking was relentless. I am convinced that she is a little midget wolf! lol.

Just had a flash back of something similar my pup did. Hehe. Sometimes they can be so stubborn and it takes ages to calm them down.

You are lucky your doggie is small :D

You must absolutely train Peanut not to be that way..you must be the one in control and tell her off sternly.so sternly that u reach down make her sit..get in her face and tell her with non uncertainty that u will not NOT tolerate her behaving that way..she can learn..everydog can..u just have to make sure she understands u completely and u are speaking her language..because if u dont'..one day the leash won't be there, and she will get herself killed.

She was looking for wires or god knows what, under my bed. I think she was interested with the wires of my fish tank, though.
