How tolerant is your dog?

Oh and Dekka lies on her back and just chills whilst I do her nails. lets vets take blood give needles etc.
Funny how JRTs aren't known for the tolerance
(she is very atypical for the breed in this way. Though mine are typically very good for vets and nails. She is just exceedingly tolerant of humans)
The whippets act like I am going to cut off their foot every time I dare to bring the nail clippers near their feet. They are far less tolerant than the JRTs of things happening. I think it part its because they are weenier. The JRTs just don't care that much where as the whippets are worried.

Elsie lets me do whatever, if I tell her she has to. When she went through her heat, I made her wear panties with a liner in them, and once she realized I was asking her to please not take them off, she ignored them. She lets me do whatever with her feet, tail, ears, teeth, whatever.
She doesn't let other folks do stuff unless I tell her she has to, though.

Saga is very passive. I can grind her nails with only a token bit of resistance. I can clean and dress wounds with no issue. She is a perfect, unresistant angel for shots/blood drawing/temperature taking at the vet. She WILL give you the "Dear god, why are you doing this to me?" guilt trip look, but for the most part, that is the extent of it.
My dogs put up with some weird stuff from me. They tend to do things pretty passive aggressively when they don't like something. Like Booker hates his nails being done so he fidgets, whines, and carries on about the whole process. He also tries to hide his feet by sitting on them.
They're also known to make a made dash when I pause momentarily when brushing them. They then come back and begrudgingly sit on my lap to finish up the job.
Rain likes to disappear when it's time to crate up. She isn't hiding she just has this moment of zone out until I am able to make eye contact with her. You'll see her kind of give me the look of OH... alright then... phoo....

I'm not really sure, it sort of depends on what he was socialized to. He's fine wearing clothing, his Santa suit didn't bug him in the least and putting sun glasses on him went surprisingly well considering the fact that he likes to eat sunglasses. Nail clipping used to be a breeze until his clippers started hurting him because they were dull, so now he gets really nervous and freaks out a bit. I'm hoping we might be able to repair that. He is fine with me looking everywhere and brushing everywhere and fine with his paws being handled outside of clipping. He likes to be flipped on his back for cuddles. I brush his teeth with no problem. He enjoys hugs.
But I don't really know if those things are tolerance because he doesn't dislike them, I feel like tolerance is putting up with something you dislike. I don't think he's so great at that, luckily there aren't a ton of things he dislikes. He can be a resource guarder, his biggest "low tolerance" issue is being picked up or moved over when he's lying on the couch and he'll growl and snap. When I think about people who say "my dog doesn't like it but he deals with it" I feel like Tucker doesn't do that, if he doesn't like it he tries to end it, forcing him to "deal with it" may end in puncture wounds. All of the things he allows me to do he doesn't mind, so I'm glad he's been socialized to so much handling. If I want him to stop growling about being moved on the couch I'll have to make him like it more. So I guess he's not really tolerant, he just doesn't have issues with a lot of things.

They are both tolerant of what we throw at them. Gracie LOVES being dressed up in reindeer ears and party hats and loves the fuss that is showered on her. Actually, Grace will tolerate anything and she finds the fun in most of the crap we dish out.
Abby is not a fan, so I don't do that kind of thing. But she would tolerate it. She absolutely loves being touched and will tolerate a lot of physical play and 'roughing up'. She is the only dog I know who genuinely prefers to be scratched on top of the head. That is her spot - she just closes her eyes and melts away.
Whereas Grace's favourite spot is behind her ears, or massage of the neck, or belly rub, or... you get the idea.
Actually - there is something that Grace just tolerates. The bath. Yes, she stays put in the laundry tub... but the mournful face. Very sad. Will have to find a photo!

You could light Beau's tail on fire and he wouldn't even move his head to look. You can yank his big ol' ears, his tail, clip his nails....he was just at the vet last Friday, vet took his temp and the vet was waiting for him to react...he didn't even move and even gave the vet cuddles afterward, him being a groomer's dog helps though

I could most likely do a cephalic on Juno by myself (haven't actually needed to try!) but I don't think she'd ever keep her head held at the right angle for a jugular!Watching that video though makes me think of all the dogs that need to be muzzled and/or out-muscled in order to do that.
Millie is very tolerant. Over the years she's let me humiliate her with clothes and a bumblebee costume I bought her. I have pics of her in it, but I can't find them.
I won't put anything on her like that again, though, she's too dignified. Plus, she's earned some peace, seeing as I was 10 when she came into my life and I was way into dressing her up and putting scrunchies around her ears.
