Not routinely!

When I used to be a regular at the dog park... there were 2 Tervs that were frequently there, and a Mal mix.

The vet clinic I used to work at treated the city's police dogs, so met a few Mals that way as well.

So basically, since I very rarely go to the dog park, and I don't work at that clinic anymore... I never see them!

I met a belgian sheep dog puppy at our last show, she was a little shy so chris and i got to sit down and feed her chicken and play with her. She was so sweet and fluffy!

Allllll the time. There are a few mals in the IPO club, and a ton of tervs (and a "black terv" - haha) at the obedience club. Neat dogs. :)

Other than Nico, Honey, Zoey, Chivava and Zivanka, I don't see many around here. I see a couple at IPO seminars, but I don't know if those count. :rofl1:

There is a very sketchy malinois/dutch cross that is a police dog in one of the suburbs (who is actually Nigel's littermate. Nigel being the super fear aggro dutchie that I had for a trial weekend.) There is a woman that comes into my store sometimes with a Terv, and there is a woman that I used to work with that has a Terv puppy and an adult all black Terv. (Since we are in the US and he is AKC registered, yes, he is a Terv and not a Groenendael.) There was an out of state cop that came into my store once with a Mal.

No fair! You got to count my dog! :rofl1:

Hysterically, to me at least, my question for this post was the "a brown dog is what color" one...I SO wanted to type "Malinois". ( My training buddy and I refer to the malinois as brown dogs more often than most anything else.)

More than I would like. Most are in not so stellar homes for the breed. Many are asking advice on how to live with them and stay sane.

But there is a customer at one of my old stores who had 2 amazing mals, she'd bring them in all the time and it was so nice to see someone who actually said "No, you can't pet my dog." :hail: to other people.

I have a family friend who has owned both Tervurn and Gronendales since I was little and they frequently bring them to the kennel club we both belong to so I would saw weekly. There is also a breeder of Gronendale/Sheepdog at my kennel club as well. There is also a Malinois on my SAR team.

Made smaller by the fact that we both do agility in the Midwest LOL.
I love Vince, he's so handsome. <3
True lol...and we used to live close enough to one another that we ended up at the same trials, even if we didn't know it at the time lol (still makes me laugh :))

Often. There are tons competing in agility.

And, as has been mentioned, Malinois are exploding in popularity. Though at this point, I'm still only seeing the "dog people" ones, none in pet homes yet.

I have actually never seen a Malinois, Laekenois or Tervuren. Well, at least, not without realising. It's actually a very thought-provoking question because I hear so much about Malinois on the net, that I feel that I see them in real life lol.

I've seen about 3 or 4 Groenendael in my life I think.
But I really don't go through life seeing that many dogs either.

Pretty rarely - I've seen a couple of Mals getting walked in town. There was a pretty little Terv in our obedience class and I saw one go at a herding trial.

I don't see Groenendaels very often - I had to set up a meeting with a breeder to meet them for the first time in person. This was when I was looking into the breed as a possible future addition.

I'm sure I'll see them more often once I start agility classes (or any other classes) again. They don't seem to be very popular here as pets.

Never seen or met a Laek!

A lot. There are quite a few mals that train at the same facility I do, and quite a few that trial locally. I see a couple tervs and a couple belgian shepherds as well.

Kind of a little off topic, but there was a Belgian Shepherd specialty here several years ago now where I got to meet and see alllll sorts of Belgians of every variety. Best day at a dog show ever! Laekens are pretty cool in person. I met two and really liked them, and temperamentally (of those two anyway) I prefered the Laekenois to the other varieties. But the scruffiness and coat texture was not for me haha.

I see far less of PyrSheps, no one else at the training club, performance place or flyball has even one. I see them at local shows a lot though. I'm pretty sure that there will be some PyrSheps at the Agility National :)
There's a PyrShep on my flyball team! :) Cool little dog.
