Peewees get clipped, simply because he has some hairy ass feet and its easier. LOL And Peewee loves his clipped (yea I know hes weird)
Ivan typically gets his dremeled because he has those god-awful black nails and I'm afraid of getting to short. Occasionally I will nip the pointy parts off with the clippers but then its back to the dremel. Ivan hates his done no matter what I use.

Riley is great for either. I "prefer" to dremel his nails though. I say "prefer" as i hate doing nails either way. I can get them much shorter and nicer with the dremel then with clippers though. I Hate the dust smell, and it hurts my hands sometimes holding it.

Pliers/scissors type clippers to get rid of the excess length (since lately, I do nails only once a month or so) and then I dremel them down to make the quick recede.

I dremel them most of the time, but sometimes we take them to the Dobes' breeder's house and she does it. I can't imagine trying to clip the Dobermans' nails... they're so thick. And because I dremel, I'd never be able to clip without quicking them. I don't like clipping in general anyway though. I've clipped Dance's in the past (and my previous dogs), but they never get as short as I want and they're sharp.

Ripley is really good about getting his nails done, but I hate doing the girls. Dance whimpers and whines and carries on the whole time, while kicking and fidgeting and Keira kicks too. They're not horrible, but doing Ripley is definitely easier and quicker.

I'm lucky. Blaze wears his nails down pretty naturally - has since he was a pup. Trim them every few months or so.

I dremel and clip though.

I dremel everyone, even the wee poodle.

I need to buy a new battery for my dremel, I think mine is dying

LOL Lizzybeth....sounds like a pretty good bargaining chip. Don't let on too much that it's a piece of cake for you. Make them all think you're really, really sacrificing. :rofl1:
Oh, I do! It would make a much more convincing argument if the dogs weren't so darn calm for me. One of our apprentices recently called me "The Nail Whisperer." :lol-sign:

I Hate the dust smell, and it hurts my hands sometimes holding it.
Yeah, the dust smell is horrible. Some days it gets to me worse than others, so then I just lightly blow on the nail while I'm dremmeling, to blow the dust away from my face. :)

I used to dremel them, which was always amusing with Morgan because she would forget and try to bite the dremel every time, buzz her teeth and then air snap at it for the rest of the time I was doing them.

Tyr couldn't be dremelled. He goes into serious protection mode and tries to kill the dremel at just the sight of one. It's not fearful at all, he just thinks it needs to be taken out.

But my dremel has been dead for quite some time and I haven't had a chance to buy a new one, so they get clipped now.

I use a guillotine clipper. I don't like it though 'cause it makes B sad.

As a result, apparently I've slacked off recently because I've noticed that his daycare is doing it for me. :)

I clip all 4 here, mum and my sister are too worried about hitting the quick to do it so if I don't hey just turn into talons. I've been trying to work Mac's back for ages because they got so long and they are all black plus she is so scared its such a chore with her.
Quinn has no issues with it, massive bonus that all hers are white.

Mine get clipped every few weeks. My staff always laughs because my dogs see the grooming table at work and they excitedly jump up on it! Then they begrudgingly stand still while I clip their nails. LOL. Those bulldogs crack me up.

I'm a lucky ******* lol

Once Roman ripped his paw up really bad so I kept him from running on hard and rocky surfaces for a while and his nails grew a bit so I dremeled them back. I found it to be more fun than clipping nails, so that's what I'll do if they ever need it from now on.

Dremel! I love my dremel. It's made my life so much easier. Raja hates clippers. Oddly enough, she chews her front nails, so I only have to dremel her back feet and her dewclaws.

Tempie just rolls over and puts her paws up no matter what I'm using. She's a dream.

Jackson's groomer or vet does it. I just can't do it, I'm always afraid I'm going to hurt him and then he will NEVER let me near him again with them (he is very much like that... something goes wrong once and it takes a lot of convincing to do it again). Plus that's one of his weaknesses... he's a major pain in the *** when it comes to getting his nails cut. He HATES it and won't stop moving or freaking out. Sooo I let the groomer do it!

I chose the "I like cheese" option.

Frodo is absolutely HORRIBLE about getting his nails done. The only way I can do it is to have my mom hold him, peanut butter him up, and try and get a few nails clipped. Not cool.
Especially because on of my biggest peeves are long nailed dogs.

Every once in a while I start to work on desensitizing him to the dremel/clippers, but it's frustrating for me and I usually give up. Thankfully I walk him on sidewalks A LOT and it keeps them to a manageable length, though much longer than I would like.

With my next dog/puppy, getting used to nails being dremeled is #1 on my list of things that must be done.

If they get long I clio them then dremel them smooth. I've been lazy and just clipping kately because I lost my toenail dremel thingy, but I just bought an actual dremel (to carve pumpkins with!) so I'll be dremeling again.

I said clip because currently that's what I do, but it changes from time to time. I like the dremel the best as it leaves the nails nice and round but it takes too long and I always end up with nail dust in my eyes.

I built a filing board out of plywood and sandpaper so Pit could scratch his own nails short, but he SUCKS at filing his own nails; they ended up all uneven, he filed some of them into sharp points, and to top it all off, he quicked himself but kept filing and ended up flinging blood on my floor. I had to retire that idea pretty quickly!

All 3 get dremeled every 2 weeks.

Cheza is a pro-star. She will just lay there as long as you have peanut butter.

Lyra is somewhat in the middle. It makes her nervous but if Rob sits with her and half holds her down/stuffs her face and I'm fast, she's a little twitchy but otherwise ok.

Nel has to be collared and have a towel wrapped around her waist, and Rob has to hold her up standing like that while I do her nails. She hates it but if we hold her like that she will tolerate it (meaning she won't kick me in the face).

When it comes to actual clipping, none of them care and I can do it while they stand there with no one holding them.

My boys nails are perfect and they file them down on the cement in the yard. I only need to trim their thumb nails, and Carty's dewclaw nail.

As for my mom's dogs, I trim their nails weekly with clippers.
