How do you know who is a moderator?

Every once in awhile on a thread, someone posts a message that demands that people quit talking about something, or telling them to take it to PM. How is anyone to know if that person is a moderator or administrator, or just someone really bossy? *L* I don't see anything that indicates a person's administrator/moderator status.

Would it be possible to ask the moderators to preface their responses with "MODERATOR POST" or something similar if they are "speaking" as a moderator at that time? It would sure make things more clear.

Thanks.

In happy-world, they don't need to be listed for any reason because people are polite, intellegent and respectful. Despite the fact that we don't live there, they still don't get a label unless it's in their displayed user info...which is a combination of user and admin preferences that have to be selected.

Thanks for the link.

It still seems like it would make sense to label a post as "MODERATOR" when responding in that role. I've been on many forums and email lists over the years and this is the first one that is confusing because moderators don't identify themselves as such when responding in a thread. If they're just chatting like everyone else, they wouldn't have to say anything about being a moderator - but when posting in an "official" capacity, a simple "MODERATOR POST" phrase would keep things clear.

And maybe people would perk up and notice the post more too!
