I'm so sorry for your loss. I lost my 8 month old chocolate lab Suede a little over two months ago when he got away from me and ran out into the highway. I can't use that part of the driveway anymore. Even writing this makes me tear up. Don't get me wrong I love Gunner but he is his own dog. I miss Suede a lot! I lost my best friend John on 12/09/03. He was 31 and died of an undiagnosed heart disease. sometimes I get angry that the things I love so much have been taken but my bestfriend/sister gave me a plaque that will maybe mean something to you.

Hugs go out to you!

I too lost a lab called Honey on 25th may 2003 she was a rescue dog who had been abused she was terrified of everything when we first had her.
She was 18months old approx but she was trained really well (possibly with a big stick) but she had perfect manners the rescue home thought she was a gipsies dog as they bought in a group of them at the same time.
When we bought her home she just lay down by the setee and went to sleep it was just as if we had picked her up from a boarding kennel whilst we had been on holiday.
She settled in straight away and was always our kind and gentle friend but she did not take kindly to people coming onto our property so we had to be careful if people called. We had her for 12 years and I still miss her like crazy and cant forget or forgive us for having her put to sleep after she had a stroke she lost the use of all her legs and couldnt stand but I still wonder if we made the right decision. We now have a little miniature schnauzer she is wonderful in lots of different ways to Hon as she would never play she used to get worried if you were slighty rough in your games with her.
But my thoughts are with you over the loss of your lovely Honey she was so very young and could have given you many years of pleasure which is one thing I am grateful for. Enjoy your other dog it will never replace Honey but I am sure you will love each other for many years to come.

Hey Bexi, thanks for your kind words. I'd have a house of labs but I'm afraid I would end up divorced and very poor :D
