Just want to say hi to everyone and what a great forum! :)

I have 2 dogs - a 8 month old pointer X golden, and a 6 month old husky.

But I began to think my "Husky" isn't really a husky, more of a Alaskan Malamute than a Siberian Husky.

First, he is on the heavy side - 36 lb when he was 5 months old.
Secondly, he is quite aggressive/dominative. My two dogs play ROUGH!
Third, his legs(both front & back) are even more muscular than my pointerXgolden.

Can anyone do an ident for me? These are the pic I just took minutes ago.

Thanks.

He's beautiful! Looks like a siberian husky to me, but I'm not real familiar with the husky line of dogs to know if a malamute could have these markings...

What a beautiful pup!!!!!!!!! Especially in that last shot where his personality just shines thru..i am not familiar enough with either breed, an outside guess would be either a cross..or a malmute..but i could be wrong.

Like everyone else, I am not too familiar with the breed characteristics.
I do know that most Malamutes play rough, but they aren't suppose to have blue eyes. So I am guessing either full husky or husky cross.

Malamutes do not have bi eyes (one blue one brown) but Huskies usually airn't so hefty BUT you can have th occasionaly muscular Husky these usually end up being the wheel dogs in the musher world (im a musher). Personally I think he looks like a Husky/Mal cross but he definatly is or has Husky in him.

BTW marks above the eyes mean nothing either can have that kind

Also Huskies also play rough especially at a young age i have 15 their racing dogs I should know lol.

BTW the dog in my one sig labeled Pakak that is my going on 8 month old Alaskan Malamute puppy he weighs around 60 or more lbs already and is training to be a wheel dog.

from seeing a lot of dogs at my grooming salon I'm seeing the signs up a siberian husky. I've had a malamute..I don't really see it in this one...but I could be wrong...

Looks a little leggy to be an Al Mal and the facial expressions are 100% Sibe. :) I'd say you have a sibe or sibe mix. VERY cute pup.

Thanks for the words & the ident everyone :) Well I'll take him as a Si-husky then!!

Rightnow he's on a diet of Eukanauba/puppy/large breed just as my older pointerX. The last owner gave him Ol'Roy, but he gets HEAVY diarrhea from that. Even mixing 50/50 of Eukanauba/Ol'roy give him watery "stuff".

Anyone have experience with the Ol'Roy brand?

You should read some of the threads in our dog food forum. We aren't fond of either of those brands.

I have experience with both. Sorry but both are junk. A wise dog lvoer once told me. "Id rather put my dog on a diet of hot dogs and jelly doughnuts than feed them that stuff" -Serena

None of that stuff for my dogs.
