I've been searching for an active dog lovers board that is...well normal is just such a subjective term...Just a nice mix of folks who are devoted to their canines and other companion animals.

My dog is Sophie, when we adopted her several years ago it was from a PetFinder picture. The top of two ears and a huge tongue. I didn't know from breeds and still don't although I've learned alot since then. But our first walk the night we got her and some gentleman called out " Hey, that's a PIT!"...well um okay, now I know more about bullies than ever before.

I can honestly say there isn't any breed of dog or cat I wouldn't consider owning. It's a matter of what fits into an individuals lifestyle. My two previous dogs were a bassett and a border collie, one took two hours to sniff one patch of sidewalk and the other finished a two mile walk in under fifteen minutes. Both were terrific dogs but I wanted someone who could hike for miles, yet calm down enough to be a cuddle bunny when we got home.

Sophie is all that and more, big broad shoulders that are great for hugging, a calm devoted disposition-when I'm home wherever I am there she is, and we have an understanding...appearances can be deceptive. You would see an imposing looking bully and somewhat frail middle aged lady. She is actually quite fearful of everything including our family cats...I have muscle close to Popeye...we're perfect together!!!

:rofl1:Welcome! What part of North Jersey are you from? I'm about 20 minutes from the Delaware Water Gap.

Oh, and pictures are a must! :)

Actually we live in the burbs closer to the city. I remember the Water Gap fondly, lots of family in PA. And I will somehow figure out how to post pics of dog, cats, rats, fish...

Glory be, another rat lover!!! I dice veggies carefully every night for my daughter's three sister rats. And by day I work for a hardware chain and have customers coming up asking how to kill rodents...it's ghastly...pet rats are so smart and cuddly but people who see them as pests would have no idea of course.
