Ok, Harley has gotten a good bit bigger. We like to call him a teacup Great Dane. LOL Just because he looks so much like a Great Dane, but is only around 60lbs. Anyway, Spud is of course still the same size.
Well, when Spud is outside w/ Precious and Harley, there have been several occasions now where I have had to go out and break up a fight. It really isn't even a fight per se, at least not a fair one. Harley is towering over poor Spud who is on his back on the ground. Harley has his mouth around Spud's neck. The only injury Spud has from these incidents so far is a gash above his right eye.
I know dogs will be dogs and try to show their peers "who is boss dog," especially among same sex pairings or households. But, this didn't even start happening until a couple of months ago. Precious is still alpha no matter how hard Harley tries to bully her. That yard and this house belongs to her... ok and Roxy. But, have any of you ever experienced a sudden spark of aggression within your dogs? Especially against one another, when it was never there before?
Sidenotes: Spud's food aggression is cured. YAY! But, Harley is beginning to show signs of it. It's like the more submissive Spud becomes with us, the more dominant Harley feels he can be. HELP! What happened to sweet innocent little Harley? And yes, they are both neutered. Harley has been since he was very tiny. Spud since he was around 4months.
