Ever since Sal was Neutered in December his appetite has be out of this world. He seems to always be hungry and check his food dish much more often than he used to. He is currently 5lbs overweight. He is 69lbs and I want to return him to 64 which is what he was at for 4years before getting fixed. I exercise him as much as possible (he has developed arthritis in his right wrist). He has slowly but surely been losing his weight back down (he peaked at 75 briefly as I rested him for lameness and I adjusted his food intake) Anyway....my question and problems is, I feel guilty because I feel like I am starving my poor boy . Someone gave me the idea that feeding green beans with his food would be a great filler (zero calories) to help fill him up. Would this be ok? Would there be any draw back to adding a cup of green beans to his food (The no salt type of course). This is new ground for me. I have never owned a bottomless pit (no pun intended) like my brothers former lab who was a serious eater. Sal used to eat what I gave him and never really focused on food much, now it seems second only to play time with the neighbor dog. Sal used to be like Athena, Athena seems to only eat what see needs and simply will not over eat, Sal's off switch no longer can be trusted.
