On "Inside Edition" (for the U.S. only) channel CBS (I think) there is going to be a story about a woman who had her lip bit off by her dog. The owner said that her dog acted without warning. She also said that she treated her dog like family. Sounds a little weird to me. I think the story airs on monday. If you dont watch it I will tell you the details. You can find the local listings here... http://www.insideedition.com/wheretowatch/

I saw this story on last night. she swears nothing was abnormal...her dog came to her, laid her head in her lap, she was petting her....and she just suddenly jumped up for the bite. she raised this dog from a pup, and up until that one moment it was totally loving. immediately after the bite, the girl's mom said the dog went and got it's ball to play. I don't know...there still HAD to be some unusual trigger..wouldn't you think???? maybe the dog had a sore spot that the girl pressed on while petting...it's just a strange story. sadly, the dog was put to sleep. sooo sad for all.

I just remembered this. we used to bowl with a guy that came in one night with his entire upper lip stitched and swollen huge. he had been to his parent's home, and after dinner he fell asleep on the floor. their dog (his pet for 10 yrs. prior to getting married) just pounced on him as he lay there...reason unknown. how bizarre. they didn't put their dog to sleep, but now they don't let the dog near company at all. you never know what that dog may have been thinking at that one moment I guess.

I did not see this story... Anyone have more details???
Why was the dog put to sleep and not just given up for adoption. That is soo sad. I feel bad for the girl, but I always feel bad for the pets in these situations as well, you never get to hear their story.

I dont think it was just play, because the dog had to put some force into it. More bad media for pit bulls, what a shame.

Putting a dog up for adoption after he bit someones lip off is risky! why put someone else in danger?
