Hi everyone,

My dogs both love to chew, especially my Doxie, Jackson Browne. I've read so much about raw hide bones not being good for them. They really love to chew on them. What would you suggest as a substitute for them. I'm getting new floors and furniture in a few weeks, and really don't want them to start chewing on the new stuff.

Thanks,
Dena

I"ve read horrible things about ropes and dogs/puppies ingesting them, I believe it was on this forum.. I actually threw my puppies rope away because of what I read. We give our puppy a kong as well as flavored bones and a greenie.

What about a Rawhide? I have heard that are bad for dogs in large amounts though... so maybe 1 rawhide a month or something like that...

Misha loves her Rope toy but if any bits come off she spits them out. She does love to chew on rawhides but I've be reading about the dangers of those on here so I'm going to reduce those and have ordered a Kong as I've heard they are pretty good.

i dont think theres TOO much wrong with rawhide. Everything in moderation is alright. Just dont give your dog 12 rawhides a week and your dog should be fine. just make sure the dogs dont choke on it. one a month sounds pretty good.

My dogs prefer kongs with peanut butter or orbee tuff bones.
