I was away over the weekend and came home to find my little Buddy with a high fever and not eating...my daughter did not notice that he was ill...I got him to the vet right away and he seemed to improve some yesterday, but he died during the night last night...the weird thing is that I thought I was dreaming last night because I felt his presence...He got in bed with me...I even remember telling him that he was supposed to be at the vet's and that he had better get back over there and into that body...I guess that must have been when he died...I knew he was gone before my vet even called this morning...Maybe I'm crazy, but I think he stopped off to tell me good bye...

I'm sorry he's gone and yes I agree with you, you probably did get a visit. My Dobie died year before last at the vets clinic, 4am and my family experienced something very strange that morning. It's those "once in a lifetime" kind of dogs we're priveledged to own, that we have a bond close enough to experience something like that with. I am guessing that Buddy was one of those companions for you?

Aww, I am so very sorry for your loss. I do feel as though it was a visit you got from him. You are a wonderful person for rescuing the animals that need it. I hope to be that type of person when I "grow up."

RIP sweet Buddy.

I'm so sorry to hear about Buddy. Experiences happen that we can't explain, but I do believe Buddy was with you in some form to let you know he was going to Doggie Heaven and would be in a better place. Keep Buddy's memories alive and know he will always be in your heart forever.

I am so sorry for the loss of your sweet Buddy!:(

I also think Buddy did visit you while on his way to the Bridge where I am sure he is patiently waiting for when he will be reunited with you. Rest in peace Buddy.

I don't think you're crazy :) I think you had a very special bond with Buddy and he wanted to make sure you were okay before he went to Rainbow Bridge. Sometimes I still feel the presence of my beloved sheltie who died almost eight years ago! I think they are always around us...RIP Buddy

I'm so sorry. This is a sad time for you, I know. Its the hardest thing about having pets, having to say, "good-bye." I don't think you're crazy at all. For whatever reason this happened, it was a gift to you that you experienced in the night. And you can keep him in your heart and mind forever. RIP Buddy.

Thanks guys...I only had Buddy in my life for just short of 3 months...I did love him very much...he came to me from a high-kill animal control facility back in July...he had some issues with aggression that made him a poor candidate for adoption, but we were really making progress and he was the best little snuggler...the vet has no idea why he died...all I know is that he was fine when I left on Saturday morning, but he was very ill when I got back Sunday night...I left my daughter in charge while I was gone...she is 21 and I thought she could handle it, but working with a large number of special needs dogs is a labor of love...to her, I think it is just labor...Her heart is not in it and she did not even notice Buddy was ill...I do not think Buddy had any underlying health issues, but we can't rule it out...he had a veterinary evaluation when he came, but it is always anyone's guess as to what these little guys have had to endure...I have yet another hole in my heart...my little Bud-Bud is sadly missed...I am so grateful that he came to me on his way home...I feel blessed to have been in his life, even if it was not for nearly as long as I would have liked it to be...

Poor Buddy... How old was he? Sorry again for your loss... I've had my rescued dog only 6 weeks, and I can't imagine life without him. I'd be crushed if he were taken from me...

I'm so sorry. I do believe that he stopped in to visit you. When our husky was put to sleep that night I swear I saw her come down the alley and stopped to stare at me and then kept right on walking. I ran right to the alley in the direction she was going and there was no way she could have escaped the alley because it was fenced off on both sides and by the time that I got there the dog was no where to be seen. Also some people have the motion detector lights and none of them went off until I ran past. So I really do believe that you saw Buddy and he was stopping in to say goodbye.

You're not crazy at all . . . just very in tune. I've seen and heard my Buffy several times since she died.

You gave Buddy three months of love in a lifetime that, if not for you, might have been completely devoid of that. What a gift!
