Getting rid of strong urine smell on lawn help?

Just wondering if anyone has had a similar problem or has any suggestions... We have lived in our current home for just over a year now with our one border collie, About 2 months ago my mother in law moved in with her 2 small dogs (yorkie poo and shihtzu poodle) these dogs have very very strong smelling pee, and they pee on everything... i dont know what to do about it ive tried hosing my lawn and fence off, it rains alot here too i have even removed everything in my back yard, all toys, deco, planters etc. its gotten to the point where i dont even play in the back yard with my daughter and dips in the hot tub are unpleasent due to the smell of my back yard anyone have any ideas of getting rid of the smell? i've wondered if its due to the food they are on and have tried to educate my mother in law about better diets and offered to buy her new food... she isn't willing to switch food

I highly doubt it's dietary. It's usually about water intake. Get them to drink more water or hydrate their food and it should lessen odors.

As far as yard stench bleach and water or simple green and water usually does a fantastic job. You can use one of those miracle grow hose attachments. Lime for the lawn also works well. If you need to get out the heavy guns there are odor control products for horses sold at feed stores that will also cut the smells.

I'm not sure if white vinegar (diluted with water) is safe for your lawn, but we use it at work (dog daycare) on the astroturf and it majorly cuts the smell. It will smell like vinegar at first, but when it dries, it's odorless.

Ditto on the water intake.

Lime works great for neutralizing the soil and smells. You can use a fertilizer spreader to put it down in large areas. We put it in Caleb's "pee pen" at least once a year. I also sprinkle some in the "poop can" periodically over the summer to keep the smell down.

King's urine has always looked like orange juice, and it has a very strong smell. He drinks a pretty good amount of water and it doesn't seem to make that much difference. It really corrodes some metals, like copper and iron/steel. There are crystals that can be seen glistening in the sun when it dries. I''ve never seen anything like it, and I was worried about kidney or bladder stones, but he's never had any problems and his bladder was fine when I had them check it when they did an ultrasound on his adrenal glands for his Cushing's disease. His bloodwork has always been perfect, until the Cushing's started, and since then the only things off are due to that. I bought some really high end circuit boards a few years ago to use for projects, and King had peed on them sometime, and when I got them out to cut a piece out, his urine had pretty much trashed them both, eating through the copper where it was heaviest, all the way to the fiberglass back. I got them for free, so it wasn't a big deal, but that copper isn't all that thin!
