Ok, I need to buy Tink a halter for long walks,as she outgrew her old one... I would like to get a walking aid, she's a wretched puller, and so far nothing I've tried is working to stop her, she's fine undistracted, but anything slightly interesting and she straining like a sled dog,all muscles working...sigh...I just would like a tool to help me train her, since I'm losing all patience....it's been 4 months, and no sign of getting better..... she's 7 pounds, and I hurt my ams on a long walk, plus she's going to hurt herself, she's 1/2 chi, i don't want a trachea problem here...
Any recommendations? I'm looking at the gentle leader brand, is the collar better or worse than the halter? I'm leaning towards the halter,is it as effective as the headcollar?
I intend to keep trying, but an aid would be so nice while I'm trying!

Thanks for the advice;) I'm now just having to figure out what size to order... it's hard, I don't want her to outgrow it! She's at the bottom end of one size, and the top end of another! But I want to get it soon, it should make walks more restful...

I'm going with the harness,as i feel uncomfortable putting the strap over her muzzle, I think she'll accept a harness better.... I'm going to order a new 'tween' size, it's a petite/small, which is for 14-18" girth, the petite is for 12-16" inch girth, and she's exactly 14" girth right now.... it would probably be better to go a little bigger, huh? usually pups fill out wider between 6 mos and a year,I think-

Yah it would prabably be bettter to go a bit bigger because you could always tighten it while the pup is to small for it! Just make sure that she cannot slip out of it!

I use the gentle leader harness on my grt dane mix, and it works great. Can you take your pup to a pet store that has the harness? Its better if you can actually put it on, to get a good fit. You can get it too big, and not be able to get it to fit right...I found that out the hard way. The harness doesn't work right if it's too big.

I ordered one from a nice lady on Ebay, she says she'll exchange if it's too big, but Tinks too solid for a petite,i think, she's got a very muscular build, unlike a full chi, which is pretty delicate....thanks!
