They sure are heavy boned but they don't look to tall. They are very nice looking and they seem to have no problems keeping up with the doggy. Nice and agile even with the size aren't they. I think it is the ground shaking when they run that frightens everyone into thinking that they should never run. They are as good as any other horse and sometimes better

Hooray for draft horses!!!! We have a clyde named KC and this horse is so great! It's interesting though, at the walk he sometimes trips over his own huge feet but once you get him going into a nice even trot he's so smooth you'd think you were riding an arab! And his canter is a rocking chair! I love that beast!

They are nice and I think we may have one joining our stables. I think will know for sure tomorrow. It is a gelding, clysdale, the owner is very sick and wants a good home for him. Oh that would be great. Wonderful lesson horse, I have my fingers crossed.

He's far from chunky, boy is he even thin. I am awaiting the vets arrival because I am very concerned. I feel that clysdales are royalty and majestic, but this guy is the ugly duckling for sure. Poor horse and we have names him Gus guess why. I sure hope he is okay and we can nurse him back to health. He is only 3 years old. Too young to suffer so we will see what the vet says and go from there. He is in desperate need of a farrier as well so that phone call has been made. Too bad! I will keep you posted on the information and his well being. Boy I feel bad for this poor big guy, he is just having problems walking. How could anyone do this to such a wonderful animal?

I really thought you would like the name. Vet says he should be ok but we have a very strict feeding schedule to follow. He was given iv's today and will recieve more tonight and twice tomorrow. Let's hope he is fine. Vet says it looks promising and he has to have a strict watering schedule right now as well. So busy but it will be worth it.

He will thank you forever!! Bless you for taking Gus!! :D Gustav is very humbled to have had a horse named in his honor! :D I won't tell him though as his ego is hard enough to deal with at times without inflating it anymore!! :D

Well the vet was out again tonight to give Gus his iv fluids and said he looks better. No turn out allowed right now and still on strict diet but that is ok. The farrier comes tomorrow morning so that will help him a lot. Poor big guy. Man he is tall and thin. Severely dehydrated as well but so far so good we will keep trying our best for him. He has a sweet temperment very loving and so forgiving even after his neglect. I have already fallen in love with him.

This morning the vet was alittle bit disappointed in gus as he does not want to eat period. If I can't get him eating I fear things will not get better for him. He is so thin right now, I don't want to make that final decision, not yet but can't stand to see him suffering. He had his feet done and we are allowed to do turn out so maybe the nice green grass will get him eating. I am going to make a nice warm bran/molasses mash tonight to see if he will eat. Vet said this morning to forget about the strict feeding diet, just feed him anything he will eat. If he doesn't soon start eating he will start suffering kidney damage if he hasn't already. So we will keep the hay bin full and keep hay cubes in the manager as well and lets hope. He is so nice and so gentle it is a shame to see such a gorgous animal reduced to a shell. Poor Gus!

Still the same he still doesn't want to eat or drink. Managed to get some water into him but he really is not wanting to live. I think he has given up on life and I just hope we can get him to start eating soon. The vet says another 24 hours and if he's not at least making an attempt to eat then we should end it for him. It will be hard but I don't want him to continue to suffer. He is very sweat natured what an absoluet shame! Poor Poor Gus. How could anyone just stop caring for any animal and hope that it just dies. Perhaps the old fart will get his wish but I hope not. Please Gus start eating!

GUS EAT!!!!!! Oh I hope you can save him!!!! It would be such a shame if he refused to live! Have you checked that there is nothing in his mouth or throat that is causing him pain when he eats?!

Yes we checked and even had his teeth floated, but he did eat last night yeah. Not alot mind you but his hay was half gone, his hay cubes were all gone and his bran mash was almost gone. His three water buckets were empty as well and not tipped over he drank. Yeah. Thank you so much for the encouragement. Maybe that is what Gus needed someone else praying for him. Lets hope this continues and that the vet agrees that this is good. He is eating his breakfast right now. :)

The vet said go start and she gave no iv's this morning. It was not the same vet this time but she was still very impressed after all she had heard about Gus she thought she would be giving him the needle this morning. Not yet he was happily munching on his hay and she said to do 2-3 hour turn outs a day on grass now. Yeah haw he gets to go out this afternoon. He is drinking lots finally and I have moved him to the automatic watering bowl stalls. He seems to be realizing that he is loved. Can you believe the kids from the neighborhood all made little cards of encouragement for Gus and some even brought carrots and apples for him. How thoughtful! I am truely touched by the act of kindness. Will let you know how the turn out goes later.

Oh cool Gus ate his supper tonight and has been eating all day. He ate lots of grass too and enjoyed his turn out. He even had alittle buck and fart while he was out. The vet is not coming again until Mon she said he looks like he is on his way now so she will check in on mon. Finally a good sign.

He's eating and drinking but not out of the woods yet. He has lost about 20% of his kidney functions. The vet says probably this will never ever both him but who knows for sure. Thanks for the well wishes I apreciate it and I know Gus apreciates it as well.

I don't get it at all but when we went into the barn this morning Gus had past away sometime during the night. This is an absolute tragedy but at least he is no longer suffering. Rest in Peace Gus, I will see you on the otherside sometime.
