I've seen so many beautiful examples of both it's unreal...I do feel it's odd that we insist on clipping them in some societies...on the other hand I feel it's odd that some people insist on considering it mutilation in others. I can't help but to look at it in the same manner I look at circumcision and piercings and stuff. Eventually this kind of nonsense is going to be applied to human beings and...and that's another debate...

Awesome contribution, Mordy!

Wow thanks Mordy those pics are amazing. Those dogs really do look stunning, I very rarely see a natural dobe. I want one :D.

IMO a doberman is a doberman with or without ears and a tail. I would prefer if cropping ceased to exist. But unfortunetely even if they do end up banning it in the US, I feel that it will only add to the breed's troubles. Bad breeders and bad people will go "underground" to get their dogs cropped. And the RSPCA can moniter it and question people, but then that ties them up when other cruelty cases arise they should be working on.

I guess it's no easy fix. Now tails :) I can live without those! But the procedure is much easier to live with then cutting off the ears. JMHO

Over here dobes are shown with natural ears, although they tend to have cropped tails, so to me its strange seeing a dobe with cropped ears lol.

ill admit seeing the tails is a little strange, but im so used to seeing them natural ears (im from england origionally) and prefer the ears natural...

the tail i still think should be allowed for working dogs (mostly because ive seen a spaniel break its tail while working in the feild and the sounds that dog made echoed through the 23 acre feild like a banchee!)

but looks wise i think if the dog is bred the way it should be and looks as close to standard as possible...the natural tail and ears just add to the natural beauty.

lol - Have to say though, my dog jumped off a wall, did NO damage to herself what so ever and screamed the park down. People were coming up to ask what was wrong

So, that isn't much to go on lol!

The ears are fine, I can totally get used to that. That skinny, sighthoundish tail? Nope.

Gorgeous dogs, though. I love the look of the European Dobes.

I like dobes who are cropped and docked.

Rotties look horrible with natural tails. My opinion by the way.

I like boxers that are all natural. I love their long tail and floppy ears.

natural ears to me are adorable but i'm never going to get used to undocked tails. After years of having two aussies i'm used to having dogs that don't knock you or anything else with their tails

I prefer dobes with natural ears and docked tails, rotties docked, and boxers docked but not cropped. I can't stand the cropped look on boxers for some reason.

No offense, but the Rotties with tails look like lab mixes. I can deal with Dobies with uncropped ears but the tail, no way. Its so long and curvy, looks weird. Boxers look cute with floppy ears bit the tail just doesn't look right. Just my opinion, don't want to start a fight.

You are right. Natural rotties look like huge lab mixes.

I personally like to see the ears cropped and tails docked for Dobes..
but, I also grew up on the "show scene" and have RARELY seen uncropped ears for a dobe and actually have never met a long tailed dobe, unless it was in the pound and a cross with something else..

The GSP pic you posted is from New Zealand where docking is mostly illegal, the same with Australia. I would love my GSP either way, tail or no tail, but for the breed as a whole docking is for the best.

I actually like the Rott with the tail. But I could either way on that one. The Dobe, I definetely prefer docked and cropped. Boxers, I prefer docked, not cropped.
