I, too, had a cat who slipped into a dangerous zone with a UTI right in front of my eyes. He's still with us and fine now, but, after he was diagnosed and being treated, I could so clearly see the signs in hindsight that I had not seen before. I felt very guilty that I had been very busy with my life's problems and had missed the subtle differences in the way Charles was behaving.

On your first thread when you said he acted like he didn't know you, I thought there must be something going on with him, and I'm glad you found out what it was and that he hasn't suffered any. He had a wonderful life with you and your family all the way to the end. Hopefully, that gives you some peace.

I am very sorry for your loss.

When Mary had her really bad pancreatic attack it was as if she was falling apart in front of my eyes. They can go down so fast.:(

The place where tj took boomer took the time to get boomer's footprint and put it on a nice personalized sympathy type card with his name on the front of it with the footprint. It was a very simple, yet heartfelt gesture. I think we will put it with a pic of him and frame them together and hang it on the wall. God brought him into our lives that cold winter night. He surely faced death back then had tj not stumbled upon him. I just don't understand how people can just dump dogs off on the side of the road like they did with him. He still had puppy breath when tj found him so he couldn't have been more that 12 weeks old at the time.

He really was such a good dog. He was good with other animals, children, people..etc. He was so playful all the time. Just wanted to please people and be loved. I know we provided him with a loving home. It was meant for him to be with us. I have some degree of peace with his passing. I will eventually be able to replace these sad feelings with some happy memories. I just need time to grieve him. Lola is sleeping in my bed under the covers practically glued to my hip still. Not sure how the cat is gonna fit in here with us..lol. She is so lost right now. I know she has no idea what has just happened. Boomer was her best friend.... they adored each other.

You might not have been able to spend the time with Boomer that you wish you had, but Boomer was able to spend the time with TJ when you couldn't connect with either of them. Boomer did come into your lives when you needed him, and now, with his leaving, he's completed his job -- you're awake.

Good dog, Boomer.

I cried so much yesterday and last night that my eyes are almost swelled shut. I have a little more peace about it this morning. Of course I am still full of sadness and still in shock... but I am truly thankful he is at peace. Lola slept between tj and I last night... that was a first for her since she was a baby because she usually sleeps in her kennel. I just couldn't bare putting her in her kennel next to boomer's empty kennel. She's gonna be okay though... she's still got the cat to play with. I'm not so sure he's that thrilled about getting a new play mate, but he'll adjust.

I'm so sorry about Boomer, but I'm glad you were able to find some peace. I know all too well the guilt after a well loved pet passes wondering what you could have done differently. To this day I still shed tears over the pets I lost at the beginning of this year. Try not to dwell and do take comfort in those around you.

I hope this was a wake up call for you. I don't mean that to be derogatory in the least, I know what depression is like. Life is too short, spend the time you have with your loved ones and don't waste your time on things that bring you sadness. We're all here for you if you feel down.
